Triple Injury Boost For Arsenal vs Leicester City: Team News, Injury Updates, and Predictions

We bring the team news as Arsenal host Leicester City in the second game week of the 2022-23 Premier League season. Arsenal started the league campaign in top gear, beating Crystal Palace 2-0 on the road and the Gunners will be looking to do the same against Leicester City.

The Foxes came very close to winning their season opener, but Brentford scored a late equalizer, making Leicester settle for a 2-2 draw. Arsenal come into the game with a stronger squad from last season but Leicester City have the experience in their ranks.

Youri Tielemans, who is a midfield target for Arsenal will get a chance to showcase his talent. Leicester have been seen to struggle defensively in the second half, conceding 80% of their goals after the half-time break.

There is a long history between both sides, dating back to 1895. They have played 148 games between themselves to date and the Gunners lead with 70 wins, while Foxes have been able to muster only 33 wins. Likewise, in the last five games, Arsenal have won three while the Foxes have a solitary win.

Injury/Suspension List:

Arsenal will be looking to slowly integrate Kieran Tierney into the starting lineup. He has been injured for a while and came off the bench against Crystal Palace last weekend.

Fabio Vieira, Emile Smith Rowe and Takehiro Tomiyasu are all expected to be back in the squad this week but might start on the bench due to precautionary measures.

Ben White performed admirably in his right-back role against Wilfried Zaha and could therefore earn another opportunity in that position, as William Saliba gave a man-of-the-match performance against Palace as a centre-back and is most likely to continue there.

Leicester have their own injury problems. Ricardo Pereira is out for six months after undergoing an operation, with Harvey Barnes and Ryan Bertrand joining him in the treatment room.

Tielemans, Wesley Fofana and James Maddison should all be involved yet again amidst speculation regarding their futures, with the former being strongly linked with Arsenal. Meanwhile, Jamie Vardy will look to improve on the 11 goals he has already scored in this fixture.

Arsenal Starting Lineup Vs Leicester City (4-2-3-1):

Aaron Ramsdale (GK); William Saliba (RB), Ben White (CB), Gabriel (CB), Oleksandr Zinchenko (LB); Granit Xhaka (CDM), Thomas Partey (CDM); Bukayo Saka (RW), Martin Ødegaard (CAM), Gabriel Martinelli (LW); Gabriel Jesus (ST)

Predicted Score: Arsenal 3-1 Leicester City

The Foxes will cause trouble for the Gunners this Saturday with an early goal from Maddison. But the rejuvenated Arsenal squad will make a comeback with goals from Saka, Jesus and Smith Rowe.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has confirmed the need for more signings before the transfer window closes but the core of the current Arsenal crop ought to feel confident about getting the job done against a Leicester side whose summer business has been virtually non-existent.

Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers has hinted that his side’s lack of new signings has been down to the higher-ups rather than his managerial decisions, and the priority for the next few weeks will likely be warding off interest for James Maddison, Wesley Fofana and Youri Tielemans.

Gabriel Jesus and Zinchenko looked in good touch last Saturday and the Gunners should be on the front foot from the start against a weakened Leicester City side.
