Arsenal Agree Personal Terms With €55m Rated Premier League Star, Official Bid to be Submitted Soon

According to reports in England, Arsenal are now apparently inching closer to finalising a deal for Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans in what has been a rollercoaster of a journey for the fans. The Gunners have agreed personal terms with the Belgian ahead of a possible summer move.

The Belgian international has entered the final year of his contract at the King Power Stadium, which as a result makes him available to interested parties at a cut-price fee. The Gunners appeared to be the frontrunners to secure the midfielder’s signature, before recently reported to be taking a step back.

Earlier this month, it was reported that Mikel Arteta’s side were no longer interested in signing the 25-year-old. According to journalist Ryan Taylor of the Express, the rumours surrounding the player’s move to North London were mainly circulated by the agents and other sources instead of genuine club interest.

One of the main reasons behind this slowdown in the player’s pursuit was attributed to the signing of FC Porto’s Fabio Vieira, who occupies an almost similar position in the midfield. However, that does not appear to be the case anymore with latest reports suggesting a ramp up in efforts.

Now, according to CBS Sports reporter Ben Jacobs, the move is back on. Jacobs told Give Me Sport that Arsenal have reached an agreement with Youri Tielemans regarding personal terms, but are yet to agree on a fee with Leicester City. The Gunners still haven’t submitted an official bid for the midfielder.

The report states the Belgian midfielder would welcome a move to the Emirates Stadium this summer. Moreover, Ben Jacobs believes that Arsenal have always been an ideal destination for Leicester City star Youri Tielemans, despite their lack of Champions League football in the upcoming season.

former Anderlecht starlet moved to the King Power Stadium in July 2019 after the Foxes made his six-month loan from AS Monaco permanent. The midfielder has witnessed a massive change in fortunes since being dubbed as one of the biggest flops of the 17/18 season by France Football.

The 25-year-old emerged as one of the most underrated players in the Premier League during his maiden season, thereby establishing himself as a first-team regular at Leicester in the coming seasons. He even scored the only goal of the 2021 FA Cup final against Chelsea to help the Foxes win the much-coveted domestic cup for the first time in the club’s history.

Meanwhile, Football London has stated that the Gunners face no real danger from their rivals Tottenham Hotspur hijacking the deal while Newcastle United have only made a basic inquiry for the player. The biggest threat to the North Londoners are Manchester United, however.

The Red Devils have already signed Tyrell Malacia, while Christian Eriksen signing is imminent. United are on the hunt for a midfielder after facing major obstacles in their bid to sign Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong. United manager Erik ten Hag is rumoured to be a big fan of Tielemans and would love to have him on board, but Leicester City player has his heart set on playing for Arsenal.
