We bring the Manchester United player ratings for the 2021/22 season’s last game as the Red Devils signed off against Crystal Palace with an incompetent performance that resulted in yet another inexcusable result. United succumbed to an underwhelming 0-1 loss against Palace on Sunday, thanks to a Wilfried Zaha finish in the 37th min.

An even start to the game saw both teams nullify each other’s strengths for the majority of the first half. Despite retaining a bulk of the possession, Manchester United struggled to create goal-scoring opportunities against Crystal Palace throughout the half. A poor pass from Bruno Fernandes resulted in a golden opportunity for Palace’s Wilfried Zaha, and the forward scored the only goal of the evening on Sunday.

David De Gea (GK): 6/10 – A handful of crucial saves saw De Gea emerge as a notable performer on Sunday. Having, arguably, been one of only two United players to have delivered consistent performances this season, the Spaniard will be keen on improving his game and remaining a crucial part of Ten Hag’s project next season.

Diogo Dalot (RB): 4/10: Having struggled to contain Zaha’s impact across the left flank, Dalot remained a precarious presence across the backline against Palace. However, having delivered a handful of promising performances this season, the full-back will be keen on remaining a part of the first-team squad next season.

Victor Lindelof (RCB): 3/10 – A surprising introduction in the starting line-up, Lindelof struggled to cope with Palace’s physicality and dynamism across the 18-yard-box. Although having been amongst the team’s better-performing defenders this season, the Swedish international will be keen on being a part of the club’s supposed rebuild starting this summer.

Harry Maguire (LCB): 4/10: A decent performance saw Maguire remain a notable presence in the backline on Sunday. However, having failed to deliver a commanding performance, the centre-back will be looking forward to working with Ten Hag, having led the club to their worst ever Premier League campaign.

Alex Telles (LB): 4/10 – An unconvincing performance saw Telles struggle to deliver a notable contribution against the. Amongst the players expected to be scrutinised by the new management, Telles will be looking to reconsider his future at the club over the coming weeks.

Scott McTominay (CDM): 3/10 – Another inadequate display saw McTominay dismally fail to dictate the team’s transitions against Palace. Expected to be granted a reduced role under Ten Hag, the Scotsman will be hoping to improve his overall attributes next season.

Fred (CM): 4/10: Invisible in midfield, Fred struggled to cope with the opposition’s transitions and physicality on Sunday. Although expected to remain a part of the first team next season, the Brazilian will be wary of improving his performance next season.

Bruno Fernandes (CAM): 2/10 – A lack of discipline and composure saw the Manchester United midfielder deliver yet another poor performance against Crystal Palace. Having witnessed a drastic drop in form in recent months, it remains to be seen if the Portuguese midfielder improves his overall game under the incoming management.

Anthony Elanga (RW): 5/10 – One of only a few reliant performers on the pitch, Elanga remained a promising presence for the majority of the game on Sunday. Expected to remain around the first-team squad, the youngster will be looking forward to working under Ten Hag heading into next season.

Hannibal Mejbri (LW): 4/10 – A surprising introduction, Mejbri remained a tenacious presence throughout his time on the pitch on Sunday. Having only made his first start for the senior team on against Palace, the young Tunisian will be keen on earning an increase in his game-time next season.

Edinson Cavani (ST): 4/10 – Having made his last appearance for United on Sunday, Cavani remained a victim of the team’s failure to create goal-scoring opportunities on Sunday.

Substitutes

Juan Mata (LW): 4/10 – Despite having delivered impressive cameos in recent outings, Mata struggled to have any impact on Sunday. Expected to leave the club this summer, the Spaniard will be keen on playing first-team football next season.
