Real’s Exit In The Champions League Could Mean The Same For Zidane Which Is Bad News For Arsenal

The future of Zinedine Zidane at Real Madrid may be on a knife’s edge after their exit in the Champions League semi-final at the hands of ‘Chelski’. The Spanish club are notoriously sensitive to any kind of setback that ends without a trophy and with Zidane’s position now looking vulnerable, the speculation will no doubt increase.

Zinedine Zidane has been on thin ice this season and there have been tensions behind the scenes at Real Madrid for the apparent failures on the pitch, not that they are in crisis by comparison to other giant clubs around the globe.

A crisis for Real Madrid is ending the season in second or third place in La Liga, but you sense the simmering dissatisfaction could have an inevitable ending as the season heads into its final phase. If Madrid fail to pip Atletico Madrid and Barcelona to the title, the dome-headed Frenchman may be on his bicyclette.

That could be very Bad News for Arsenal in their pursuit of Martin Odegaard. With Zidane out of the hot seat and a new manager installed, the Norwegian could be back in favour during a massive overhaul at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.

It was looking favourable for the Gunners, with the player showcasing his obvious talents and voicing his happiness in his adopted environment and holiday home, but that could all change within weeks with a new face at the helm who wants to assess his entire wealth of riches.

Odegaard isn’t the sort of player that you would give up on in a major rebuilding project. in fact, he’s the type you start building a squad around because, at the age of 22, there’s so much more to come. He’s an immensely gifted player that has wonderful control in tight spaces and his vision is Bergkampesque. There’s a way to go before genuine comparisons can begin, but you can’t deny the class and potential and it’s something that an incoming manager will certainly give full consideration to.

The playmaker could also reconsider his position with Arsenal in a transitional period, which is likely to see them on the sidelines of major competitions for at least another two seasons. Real Madrid are always there or thereabouts in any tournament, plus the salary and weather aren’t exactly terrible. So, it’s time to cross your fingers and to will, Madrid onto the La Liga title, or Odegaard could once again be firmly in the plans of the Spanish club.
