India v/s South Africa – the crucial cast against the prodeas

All About the  India vs South Africa Series:

Team India will be facing one of the best test teams, The Rainbow nation, team South Africa from 5th in January this New Year.

Team India, headed by the very talented Captain Virat will be facing the high seaming and extra bounce added pitches of the host.

The home team will make sure not to let the number one test team overpower their record of being undefeated.

The Africans have won five of the Series over the last 25 years against India out of total six times starting the first in 1992 and the most recent one in the 2013-14 season under Captain Dhoni.

The main reason for such performance in the past is the probable void spot of a bowler-batsmen player. The Indian team has always felt the dire need of a star all-rounder for sub-continental pitches like that of African nations.

The last test series proves an aforementioned weakness. While MS has already accepted the problematic proportion of batsmen and bowlers for foreign tours, it would be very crucial to see if India can actually learn from their past and turn the tables’ right this time.

Important Players:

With some great players and season stars like Rohit Sharma, R. Ashwin, Capt. Kohli , C.Pujara, K.L.Rahul, H. Pandya and a bowling line-up of Mohammed Shami (skiddy pace), Umesh Yadav (speed and movement), Bhuvneshwar Kumar (controlled two-way swing), Ishant Sharma (off-stump line and bounce) and Jasprit Bumrah (out-swing and scorching yorkers) can hurt the host.

The presence of the influential Quinton de Kock, Hashim Amla, AB de Villiers and Faf du Plessis in the South African batting line-up is their strongest point whereas a red-hot pace attack of Dale Steyn, Kagiso Rabada, Morne Morkel, and Vernon Philander will trouble the Indian batting line-up prominently.

The Kookaburra ball, selected for the series, swings a lot more when new. The Kookaburra has less of a seam than the conventional ball and loses its shine quicker. Consequently, as the ball gets older, it does a lot less, becomes easier to counter. Interestingly, the Kookaburra ball does not quite support reverse swing either.

Further analyzing the last series of Ind v/s SA tour of 2013-14.

Results: Test series: 1-0 (SA); ODI series: 2-0 (SA)

SA easily won the initial two ODI’s with the great margin of 141 and 134 runs respectively. Indian batsmen were merely helpless against the African seamers but rain saved the day for team India as the last ODI was hurdled by heavy rain.

Except for Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara, no other teammate could leave a mark at theAfrican grounds.

Faf du Plessis and AB de Villiers showed that the best batting duo can easily face any bowling line-up and literally smash them out of the grounds.

South Africa sealed the Test series 1-0 after winning the second Test by 10 wickets.

The upcoming series is very important for team Indian also because, with some spectacular performances from Indian side and a great calendar year, this new year will also be a great opportunity for the men in blue to swipe the opposition and end the trail of losing against the host at his home ground.
