Championship Predictions: Norwich to get their first place back? Middlesbrough to lose?

Leeds United is currently holding the first place, but with their away match against Aston Villa this weekend, can they manage to stay first? Norwich City is chasing them and their opponent is much easier. Things are getting better at the bottom too as Ipswich Town has finally won a game, but can they do it again? These are the predictions for this weekend in Championship.

Blackburn Rovers vs Norwich City

Norwich City has lost their first place, but with Leeds United playing against Aston Villa on Sunday, they have a chance to get their first place back. The thing about Norwich is they are in excellent form. They are unbeaten in last 10 league matches and they have lost only one away game this season. Blackburn Rovers are in excellent form too, with Bradley Dack having 9 goals and 4 assists so far. I expect a lot of action in this one, both teams will probably score, but Norwich has to work really hard to get a win.

Norwich City to win: 1-2

Brentford vs Bolton Wanderers

I am well aware of the form that Brentford is in, but the only team that has been worse than them in last 10 matches is Bolton Wanderers. Bolton is struggling to score, while Brentford doesn’t have a problem with their attack, it’s the defence that concedes a lot. Neal Maupay hasn’t scored in last three matches for Brentford, but he is still one of the best strikers in the league and I expect him to continue his excellent form against Bolton Wanderers on Saturday.

Brantford to win: 2-1

Derby County vs Bristol City

Derby County is good against teams like Bristol City. They play similar style of football, but Derby County had quite a better season so far. Although Leeds and Norwich are moving up faster, Derby County is still trying to get back into fight for the first place. Mason Mount has dropped his form lately, but I expect young midfielder to be the most important player on Saturday as he can bring more creativity than any other player on the pitch. Bristol City has been excellent away from home so far, but I think that Derby County has a better chance to win this one.

Derby County to win: 2-0

Ipswich Town vs Sheffield United

Well, it happened. Ipswich Town has finally won their first home game this season and it was against Wigan. However, it will be much harder to compete with one of the best teams in Championship this season. Sheffield United has been struggling against top teams lately, but they are winning easy games and that is quite important. In last two away matches, Sheffield United has won against Brentford and Reading. Ipswich Town is another team that is having a bad season, so Sheffield United is having a better chance to win.

Sheffield United to win: 0-1

Nottingham Forest vs Queens Park Rangers

Queens Park Rangers haven’t been that impressive away from home this season, while Nottingham Forest has been excellent so far. This match is very important for Nottingham Forest as they can end up in play-offs with their opponents having some tough matches. I don’t expect a lot of goals from this one, Nottingham Forest is very organized in defence and they can easily keep a clean sheet. Lewis Grabban is Championship top scorer and although he hasn’t scored in last two matches, I expect him to continue scoring on Saturday.

Nottingham Forest to win: 2-0

Reading vs Middlesbrough

Fans are starting to lose patience with Pulis. Losing at home against Burton in a game that would’ve taken them in Carabao Cup semi finals was too much. Middlesbrough simply has to win this one. But can they do it? Reading still hasn’t appointed a new manager, but they are still excellent at home and they are scoring a lot lately. Middlesbrough on the other side is struggling to find a back of the net. For me, Reading can surprise here. They are good at home and Middlesbrough is not in their best form.

Reading to win: 1-0

Rotherham United vs West Bromwich Albion

Rotherham has dodged a bullet against Reading, but can they stay unbeaten against West Bromwich Albion? The thing is, West Bromwich Albion has been struggling to score lately, but they are still in excellent form. They have lost some points against Brentford and Aston Villa, so they have to win as much games as they can now. Rotherham United is excellent at home, but I am sure that they will struggle to get a good result against West Bromwich Albion.

West Bromwich Albion to win: 1-3

Sheffield Wednesday vs Preston North End

Preston is far from a best team in the league, but they are currently in good form, which is something I can’t say about Sheffield Wednesday. The biggest problem for Preston has to be the fact that this is an away game. Away from home, Preston managed to get only two wins this season, and although Sheffield Wednesday in not that good at home, their home record is better as they have three wins. I expect both teams to score in this one and I would go with a draw.

Draw: 1-1

Stoke City vs Millwall

A point in away game against Aston Villa was an excellent result for Stoke City. Now they have an easy game and they should try to get all three points. Millwall is the worst team in Championship when it comes to an away performance. They have lost 8 of their 11 away matches and they still don’t have a single away win this season. Stoke City is finally finding their form and they are looking to get in play-offs as soon as they can. For me, this should be an easy win for Stoke City.

Stoke City to win: 2-0

Wigan Athletic vs Birmingham City

Wigan Athletic has been in bad form lately, but they are still excellent at home. Birmingham City is having a great season so far and they are still trying to get in play-offs. Both teams will certainly look at this game as a great opportunity and both teams will certainly go for a win. I expect a lot of action in this one, both teams will probably score, but for me, a draw should be the most likely outcome of this one.

Draw: 1-1

Hull City vs Swansea City

I don’t rate Hull City at all this season, but they are getting in great form and for the teams that are fighting for survival, every point matters. Swansea City hasn’t been that impressive away from home this season and I expect them to struggle in this one. Hull City has won their last home game 2-0 and although that win was against Brentford, it has to be a big boost for a team. I don’t expect a lot of goals in this one, but for me, Hull is having a better chance to win.

Hull City to win: 1-0

Aston Villa vs Leeds United

The most exciting match this weekend will be played on Saturday. Aston Villa will meet with Leeds United and everyone is expecting a lot of goals. Both teams are in excellent form. Leeds United is holding a first spot, while Aston Villa has been a team with second best attack in the league. Both teams will most likely score and both teams will work really hard to get a win. It will be harder for Leeds United as Aston Villa is playing at home, but I don’t think that they will lose this one.

Draw: 2-2
