Premier League predictions: Arsenal to win. All eyes on Wolves

This Premier League weekend starts with a very interesting fixture in which Wolverhampton welcome the champions Manchester City at the Molineux. Arsenal welcome West Ham in what is a must win game for the Unai Emery led team, while Manchester United has a very good opportunity to respond to the criticism they have received after their visit to Brighton by winning at home against Spurs.

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Manchester City

I think that Wolves are a team who is capable of playing in big games and they could cause problems to the Pep Guardiola’s side. However, in order to get something from this fixture the Nuno Espirito Santo’s team needs to defend much better than they did against Everton. Wolves like to play attacking football. When I discussed this fixture with a fried of mine who is a football reporter he simply said that we have all see what Man City do with team who play open, offensive football against them. He is right and the champions could simply trash Wolves. However, I believe that the only way to win against City is to attack and cancel their dominance in the midfield.

Manchester City to win: 2:3

AFC Bournemouth vs Everton

Bournemouth won a very important 3 points at London Stadium and now welcome the Toffies in a comfortable position in a game which is a very hard to predict. Marco Silva’s new Everton got 4 points out of the first two fixtures which is not bad. The Toffees manager is very ambitious, but I don’t see his team winning at the Dean Court.

Draw: 1:1

Arsenal vs West Ham United

I think that Arsenal will win at home against West Ham. The Gunners were a bit unlucky to loose 3:2 at Stamford Bridge last weekend. Their players have shown charter and retuned into the game after loosing 2:0 against Chelsea. Unai Emery has assembled a good team, but his players still need time to adapt to the way he wants them to play.

West Ham should have either drawn or won against Bournemouth at home. They didn’t and now the Manuel Pellegrini’s side will go through difficult times.

Arsenal to win: 3:1

Huddersfield Town vs Cardiff City

It is a must win game for Huddersfield if they want to keep their Premier League place for another season. David Wagner’s team conceded too many goals against Chelsea and Manchester City. It is not going to be easy against Cardiff who have won their first Premier League point this season and would see their visit to Huddersfield as an excellent opportunity to grab more points.

Huddersfield to win: 2:1

Southampton vs Leicester City

Claude Puel’s Foxes visit The Saint Mary’s stadium and will play against Puel’s  previous team in a game in which the Frenchman will definitely want to prove Southampton wrong for sacking him last year. Leicester were very good on their visit to Manchester United and then won comfortably at home against Wolves. I think that they will get something out of this fixture.

Southampton should have won their in their first game for the season against Burnley. They haven’t scored however. Good news for them is that Danny Ings whom Mark Hughes brought from Liverpool started scoring immediately.

Draw : 1:1

Liverpool vs Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton showed their teeth against Manchester United and will hope that they will be able to disrupt Liverpool’s game and to get something out from their visit to Anfield. They are a good side and I think they will be staying in the Premier League for another season, despite the fierce competition in the bottom side of the table.

Liverpool simply need to go out and win that one, if they are about to chase for the title. It is interesting whether Jurgen Klopp will give Daniel Sturridge his first start for the season or the striker would come as substitute as he did within the last two fixtures.  Another player who is still yet to feature for the Reds is Fabinho.

Liverpool to win: 2:0

Watford vs Crystal Palace

Watford have enjoyed a good start of the season. The Hornets won on their visit to Burnley and will play with a lot of confidence against Crystal Palace. Palace played well against Liverpool, hit the post and were a bit unlucky not to score. I fancy them to grab point at Vicarage Road.

Draw: 1:1

Fulham vs Burnley

It looks to me that the time is coming for Fulham to records their fist win fro the season. Burnley will visit London on the back of another UEFA Europa League game and I don’t think that they will be fresh enough after their visit to Karaiskakis Stadium where they play against Olympiacos on Thursday.

Fulham to win: 2:1

Newcastle United vs Chelsea

This game is a test for the Rafael Benitez side who have started the season with a home loss against another Top 5 side – Tottenham Hotspur. It looks to me that the inform Chelsea are too good for the Magpies, but you never know with Newcastle. They have shown many times that they are capable of winning against the best teams in the league when they play at St. James’s Park.

Chelsea deserved to win against Arsenal last week, despite that at some point they have lost control over the game. It is interesting whether Maurizio Sarri could lead the Blues to third consecutive win on the start of the league.

Chelsea to win: 1:2

Manchester United vs Tottenham Hotspur

I think that United will win this fixture against Spurs who are a better side then them at the moment. Why? Because Manchester United are a team who can win important games. I think the the Red Devils’ player will turn up against Spurs on Monday nigh.

The than that I don’t think that Jose Mourinho will enjoy a good Premier League season. He has already achieved something with Manchester United by winning the UEFA Europa League and honestly I think this will be his biggest achievement at Manchester. The club has backed Jose Mourinho and said that his sacking isn’t on the table, but this will not make United a better side.

Mauricio Pochettino’s Spurs are as good as they were last season or even a little bit better. They are a more experienced side now and I think that their main objective will be to finish at the top 4 in the Premier League and to process as mush as they can in the Champions League. In an ideal world Spurs should win at Old Trafford against the unconvincing Manchester United, but I still think that the Red Devils will get all the points.

Manchester United to win: 2:1
