Games that couldn’t be played on weekend because of FA Cup will be played on Tuesday. Although we won’t be seeing much of an action in top 6, clubs that are fighting a relegation battle will have another big gameweek. All of them have a big opportunity to get some points on Tuesday, but which ones will get a win and make their relegation battle a bit easier?
Birmingham vs Sunderland
Both clubs are struggling at a bottom and both clubs will find this game as a big chance of getting up. And although both clubs are in awful form, Birmingham is better at home, while Sunderland is better away. Sunderland had a few good results lately, and they will certainly try to get all three points from this one. They have signed Brighton winger Kazenga Lua Lua on free transfer, but their squad still isn’t good enough to compete with better sides in Championship. So, if Sunderland wants to go up, they need a win against their relegation rivals. Birmingham is struggling to find a back of the net this season, as they’ve only scored 16 goals in 28 games so far, and since Chris Coleman became Sunderland manager, quite better sides struggled to score against them.
Sunderland to win: 0-1
Burton vs Reading
Although Reading doesn’t seem to be a side that can go down this season, they are quite close to the relegation zone. If they don’t find a win against sides like Burton, they will get even closer. But is Reading good enough to win against Burton? Yes they are. Their away performance this season is much better than their results at home, and luckily for them, Burton haven’t lost only 4 home games so far this season. Reading will give their best not to concede, as their top scorer Modou Barrow is not in best form lately, and they will probably have to rely on somebody else to score.
Reading to win: 0-2
Hull vs Leeds
Leeds United simply needs a win. They have lost last few games in which they were favorites, and now, after Hull, they will have to play against Cardiff, Sheffield United, Bristol City and Derby. If Leeds doesn’t find a win in this one, they can say goodbye to their hopes of promotion. However, they have been lucky, because Hull has been in awful form this season and there is nothing that indicates they can get a good result from this one. Kemar Roofe and Pierre-Michel Lasogga played excellent against Millwall, but although they scored three, Leeds conceded four and they’ve lost. This time, Leeds United must keep a clean sheet and find a win.
Leeds to win: 0-2
Middlesbrough vs Sheffield Wednesday
Last time these two have met, both managers got sacked. Now, Middlesbrough seems to be getting better results than Sheffield Wednesday. Tony Pulis is now quite close of getting a play-off spot with Middlesbrough and with his experience, winning a game like this one shouldn’t be that hard. As Britt Assombalonga is struggling to score lately, he is getting less and less gametime. So now, other players, like Rudy Gestede, are getting their chance to prove themselves. Although they might struggle to score, Middlesbrough can certainly rely on their defence as they have been outstanding so far this season.
Middlesbrough to win: 1-0
Millwall vs Derby
Millwall is magnificent at home this season, but Derby County is currently in best form. Derby has lost only two away games this season and after having such a good run, nothing suggests that they won’t get a good result against Millwall. Both clubs will go for a win, but Millwall might struggle to find a back of the net more than once as Derby is having quite organized defence. However, Millwall will have a hard time trying to keep Matej Vydra from scoring.
Derby to win: 1-3
Nottingham Forest vs Preston
Preston is still having some chance of getting into play-offs, and after appointing Aitor Karanka for their manager, Nottingham Forest proved to be ambitious too. Preston has been quite good away from home this season, and although they won five away games so far, playing against Nottingham Forest will be a hard challenge. This game does not promises a lot of goals, as both clubs will probably rely on their defence more. It would be nothing strange if both teams manage to keep a clean sheet.
Sheffield United vs Aston Villa
Sheffield United is getting back on tracks again, and although their performance is quite good again, getting a win against Aston Villa this season is a tough challenge. Aston Villa is still competing for a second spot and they know that every win against direct opponents is getting them a step closer to straight promotion. However, it’s hard to say if any of these two sides can get a win on Tuesday, both teams will probably score, but draw is a most likely result.
