Michigan football lands commitment from 3-star DE Gabe Newburg

Michigan football landed its third defensive lineman for the class of 2019 Monday night.

Three-star defensive end Gabe Newburg announced his commitment to Michigan in a post on Twitter, declaring it "my dream for so long."

"First I want to thank God for giving me the opportunity to play at the next level, my family and coaches for putting me in this position, and all of the other coaches who gave me a chance to play at their school," Clayton wrote.

"With that being said I'm excited to announce my commitment to THE University of Michigan.

Newburg had scholarship offers from a dozen Division I schools, including Michigan State, Iowa, Cincinnati and Harvard.

According to MaxPreps, Newburg had 58 tackles and 6 1/2 sacks for Northmont High School in 2017, his junior season.

Newburg is the seventh member of Michigan's 2019 recruiting class, joining two other defensive ends: five-star commit Chris Hinton (Norcoss, Ga.) and four-star Stephen Herron, Jr. (Louisville, Ky.).
