UND's goals were scored by Shaw, Cole Smith and Shane Gersich.
Lineup notes: UND played without its top two centermen -- juniors Rhett Gardner and Nick Jones.
Denver was without defenseman Griffin Mendel, who made the trip to Grand Forks, and forward Tyson McLellan.
