After defeating Louisiana Lafayette, 63-14, in the final game of the season on Dec. 2, the Mountaineers were named the 2017 Sun Belt co-champion.

As previously mentioned, the Mountaineers defeated the Rockets in the 2016 Camellia Bowl, as a field goal late in the fourth quarter was the difference in the game.

Toledo’s triple-threat of quarterback Logan Woodside, running back Terry Swanson and wide receiver Diontae Johnson will prove to be a tough test for Appalachian State’s solid defense.

Appalachian State will counter with a strong offense of its own, led by quarterback Taylor Lamb.

Lining up in the backfield with Lamb is running back Jalin Moore, who rushed for 912 yards and 9 touchdowns on 161 carries this season.
