Cotto vs. Kamegai results: Cotto wins by unanimous decision

Miguel Cotto defeated Yoshihiro Kamegai by unanimous decision (120-108, 118-110, 119-109) Saturday night to claim the WBO junior middleweight title.

For those unwilling spend $100 to watch Saturday's Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor fight, there is an alternative for you.

Miguel Cotto returns from a 21-month layoff to face Yoshihiro Kamegai for the vacant WBO junior middleweight championship from the StubHub Center in Carson, Calif., on HBO beginning at 9:45 ET.

Cotto (40-5, 33 KOs) hasn't fought since November 2015, when he lost the middleweight belt to Canelo Alvarez, who later vacated the title to face Gennady Golovkin on Sept. 16.

Kamegai (27-3-2, 24 KOs) earned this opportunity when he picked up the biggest win of his career last September when he retired Jesus Soto Karass.
