New York Giants OL Michael Bowie booked, released on domestic assault charge

New York Giants offensive lineman Michael Bowie turned himself in Monday after a warrant was issued last week on a charge of domestic assault and battery in Oklahoma.

Bowie did not travel with the team to play Monday night's game against the Cleveland Browns .

Tulsa County assistant district attorney Kenneth Elmore told the newspaper that Bowie grabbed the woman by her neck and tossed her to the ground.

He has been working as New York's third-string tackle this summer and is considered a long shot to make the team.

The Giants faced a high-profile domestic abuse situation last season when kicker Josh Brown received a one-game suspension.
