Paul Scholes has questioned Manchester United’s acquisition of Odion Ighalo on transfer deadline day. He also added that Sir Alex Ferguson would never have condoned Paul Pogba’s antics at Old Trafford.
Man United secured a last gasp loan deal for Ighalo from Shanghai Shenhua with Solskjaer desperate to solve the striking crisis at the club as Marcus Rashford continues his recovery on the sidelines. Regardless, Scholes has queried the credibility of Ighalo’s record in China and if he possesses the ability to justify his move to Old Trafford.
In a chat with Robbie Savage’s Premier League Breakfast, Scholes said: “I don’t think he’s a signing for the long term. I think his scoring record in China is very good but is it that credible? I don’t know.
“He is an out-and-out center-forward, I don’t think United have an out-and-out center-forward. He’ll play with his back to goal and he might bring players into play.

“It’s good to have an extra body, but when you’re United you want an extra body with quality and he’s got that to prove.
“He’ll bring something different. I don’t see him starting many games.”
Meanwhile, it has been revealed that Ighalo will be included in Manchester United’s squad for the Premier League clash against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Monday despite been kept away from the club’s Carrington training complex since arriving in the UK due to coronavirus fears.
Scholes went on to talk about Pogba’s current situation at Old Trafford.
“I don’t think it would’ve done down very well,” he added. “Players seem to go off and do their own stuff now.
“When I was there, our manager wouldn’t have allowed that type of thing to happen.”
