Cristiano Ronaldo insistent that he hid nothing from tax authorities

The Madrid star man Ronaldo has insisted on his innocence according to news sources.

Reports about Cristiano Ronaldo which left fans worldwide in shock surfaced recently. However, according to news sources, the news that he allegedly indulged in tax evasion activities worth 15 million euros is said to have caught even the player himself by surprise and this was revealed by sources close to the player and his legal experts.

Reports from El Mundo insisted that the player and his advisers didn’t declare a significant portion of his income in 2014. The Portuguese star and his associates subsequently came out to deny the claims made against him.

The claims made against Cristiano Ronaldo are related to the ones made in December on his foreign accounts in the Virgin Islands. Reportedly, only 20% of his image rights was accounted for in the year 2014, as some were sold in his name before the Beckham law lost its legal effect.

The issue on how much is expected or legally bounded to be declared by a player in taxes is open to various interpretations and is the reason for which these claims are being made against the player.

Cristiano Ronaldo is said to have declared more in taxes than he was supposed to, of his own accord and is expected to have received the benefit of the doubt for the gesture. But he could still attract heavy fines for the behavior.

Authorities have revealed that the applicable penalty could be anything from 15 months to 5 years, although some school of thought claims that the figures are just meant to create awareness and attract attention.
