NordicTrack Commercial 1750 vs. ProForm Performance 1450

Treadmills are a very specific niche market, but there are few names that has gained quite the reputation in this arena. They all have great products on their sleeves, and they keep make their products better in order to stay above their competitors. The availability of many great products doesn’t make it easier for consumers to pick the one that fit their needs best. We need to compare one model to another before we can make a wise buying decision.

Beside Nordictrack, ProForm is the name that people trust for quality treadmills. Proform Performance 1450 was a favorite treadmill model in the market.

And even though the product is already discontinued, let’s see how NordicTrack Commercial 1750 fare against one of the consumers’ top pick.

The Comparison: NordicTrack Commercial 1750 vs. ProForm Performance 1450

Both NordicTrack and ProForm are known for their high-quality treadmills that come with amazing features and functions. They’ve incorporated everything you need to create your ideal workout while providing you with the top of the line quality and technology. Not only you and your family will look forward to doing the run, but you will also enjoy the process of exceeding your fitness goal.

The Motor and the Running Deck

Not many people pay attention to the motor in their treadmills. While it’s not something flashy that will determine the immediate buying decision, the motor is an important part of the system. Without it, the treadmill won’t be a treadmill, since the motor is the one that powers the running belt. ProForm Performance 1450 comes with 3.25 horsepower motor while NordicTrack Commercial 1750 is powered by a quiet 3.8 horsepower drive motor.

Both motors are capable of propelling the running belt at speed up to 12 mph with 0.1 mph increments, and both come with deceptively simple quick-access speed control. But the ProForm’s belt is slightly smaller at 20 by 60 inch compared to NordicTrack’s 22 by 60 inch.

Both running decks feature heavy-duty shock absorbers to reduce the impact of your body weight on your knees and other joints when you run. You can adjust the cushioning level according to your preference. You can even turn this feature off if you prefer to simulate the feeling of running on the hard surface like a concrete sidewalk.

Incline and Decline

Many modern top-of-the-class treadmills today comes with the ability to incline and decline the running track. The feature can simulate the uphill and downhill running for those who want to get more out of their training. Both the ProForm and NordicTrack treadmills offer motorized treadmill deck that can elevate to around 15%, but only the NordicTrack’s deck that can be set to decline up to 3%. It means that the ProForm is less suitable for cross training than the NordicTrack.

Similar to the speed control, the incline (and decline for NordicTrack) control are accessible via the quick-access buttons.

Built-In Workout Programs and iFit

Keeping up with the digital age is one sure way to strive in the harsh competitive environment. Fail to do that and your competitors will leave you in the dust by leap and bound. That’s why the top of the line treadmills today include built-in workout programs and integration with popular online workout service provider.

Both NordicTrack Commercial 1750 and ProForm Performance 1450 come with built-in workout programs to provide you with a variety of running simulations for your needs. But there are 40 of them in the Commercial 1750 while only 28 are available in Performance 1450.

Both machines also include iFit integration. With iFit, you can create custom exercise programs, such as goal-oriented weight loss, to complement the existing built-ins. Please note that you need to pay the additional subscription fee for iFit.

Heart Rate Monitor

A treadmill without the heart rate monitor function is an incomplete one. It’s tough to keep track with your health condition without your heart rate data. Both machines that we are talking about here include the heart-rate monitor. The data is compiled using the hand sensors near the quick-access button.

In addition to that, NordicTrack 1750 also includes wireless heart rate monitor that you can place on your chest. This monitor will enhance the data from the hand sensors. ProForm 1450 didn’t come with the feature.

AutoBreeze Fan

When you burn your calories, your body temperature increases. Sweat is body’s natural way to regulate the heat so it will stay within the normal range. The two treadmills that we discuss provide users with the integrated AutoBreeze fans to help keep the cool during exercise. The fans will keep up with your activity levels and change speed automatically as you run. The fans also have manual settings of low, medium, and high, if you don’t want to use the automatic settings.

The difference between the two treadmills is that NordicTrack 1750 comes with dual AutoBreeze fans while ProForm 1450 only comes with a single fan.

Entertainment and Other Extras

Some people dedicate their life to rigorous training for the betterment of themselves and to reach a higher level of fitness. But most everyday treadmill users simply want to get healthier while having fun doing it. To accommodate the needs of those users, both 1750 and 1450 come with entertainment features.

Start with the Android-based tablet with a full color touchscreen that double as the health monitor and exercise display. With an internet connection, you can do most things that a normal tablet can do, including browsing the web and checking out your email. This means that you can stay productive and keep up with your web life while exercising.

You can also listen to your favorite music as the treadmills have high-quality speakers built-in and support external digital music players like iPods and other MP3 players.

Don’t forget the interactive video workouts that come with iFit integration. These videos give you another way to exercise by letting you run in famous locations around the world, from New York to Paris and more. Even though it won’t substitute the real experience, virtually exploring the world while running on the treadmill is a fun way to exercise.

In addition to that, NordicTrack 1750 also comes with reading rack, additional adjustable tablet holder, tablet syncing ability, and water bottle holder.

Storage Solution

To provide users with comfortable running, all treadmills have relatively large dimension. While many treadmills ask users to compromise with the available space, both the 1750 and 1450 give users a better solution. While you are not using the machines, you can safely and securely fold them up and store them somewhere where they won’t take your home precious space.

Warranty

One way to look at how confident a manufacturer about their products is by looking at the kind of warranty it offers. Both NordicTrack Commercial 1750 and ProForm Performance 1450 offer the similar warranty. There’s a lifetime warranty that covers motor and frame. In the world where many products come with a one-year warranty or nothing at all, a lifetime warranty sure says a lot.

There are also separated five-year warranty for electronics and parts, and a two-year warranty for labor.

Knowing that your machine is covered by these generous warranties, you’ll be sure that you have made the right investment and got years of quality use.

And if there’s any problem, the companies’ help and support departments are always ready to respond to your inquiries. There are also the live chat support on the website, a FAQ section, and downloadable PDF user manual.

Summary

Since ProForm Performance 1450 has already been discontinued, we can’t answer the “which one is right for you” question. What we can do is to walk you through brief features of the great things about the machines.

ProForm Performance 1450 was one of the consumer’s choice of treadmills. It came with a powerful motor, shock-absorption technology, the ability to incline up to 15%, an AutoBreeze fan, heart rate monitor, tons of workout programs, integration with iFit, entertainment system, and more. Throw in the warranty plan into the mix, and you have a winning machine in our hand.

And yet, with all the great things that come with ProForm Performance 1450, the NordicTrack Commercial 1750 can beat each and every single one of them hands down with better ones. It has better motor power, additional decline feature, wider running track, double the fan, more workout programs, wireless heart rate monitor, and better entertainment system.

If you are currently searching a better alternative to the discontinued ProForm Performance 1450, you might find what you are looking for in NordicTrack Commercial 1750.
