Ronald Koeman is busy with the reconstruction of the team for the next season. Because the team already has less number of young players. As most of the players are almost 30 years old. So according to its manager looking to set new formation for Barcelona.

So Ronald Koeman applied his tactics in the first friendly match and played with a 4-2-3-1 structure. This formation not used at all either by fans or players. Because this looks more defensive structure on paper.

On the contrary, the Barcelona coach promises that this will be a safer and attacking formation for the club. Because Catalans play the possession game and that two defensive players will contribute more for keeping possession.

Along with possession, they will also support the attack including quick come back for the defensive purpose. So it will help to do attack as well as a defense at the same time. Hence, this will take more time to settle on the field as it will require more practice to do.

Koeman speaks on playing style

While speaking to Goal after the first friendly match said, “It may be different and somewhat more defensive than what has been seen in recent years, but the objective is to move the ball, hold on to it and find the spaces to play between the lines, and behind rival midfielders”

Overall, Barcelona under Quique Setien played on counter-attacking but there was a lack in the pace of players. So Ronald Koeman will look to add young talent in the midfield as he had not used Vidal & Luis Suarez in a friendly match. Therefore, it will come to know during the first Barcelona match of this season against Villarreal.
