Bruno Fernandes takes Cristiano’s Core Crusher Challenge

The Core Crusher Challenge is a new hit among the athletes on the internet. Many of them have tried doing it to varying degrees of success, but Bruno did not have good luck

Bruno Fernandes joined Manchester United on the transfer deadline day of 2020. Since his arrival at the Red Devils, he has taken the Premier League by storm. The club has seen a visible change of results since Fernandes’ arrival. Midfielders are often difficult to assess based on just stats. However, he has the numbers to back him up too. Two goals and three assists in five matches are the kind of numbers one would dream for.

Moving to England from Portugal in the middle of the season was certainly a new challenge for Bruno. However, he has passed that with flying colors. Not only has he adapted to life in a new country, but he has also won over the football fans. United fans absolutely love him, and some have even gone ahead to call him the best Portuguese to ever play for the club. He has also picked up the Player of the Month award for February.

However, one challenge he could not ace was the Core Crusher Challenge. This internet challenge is a darling of most famous athletes now. Sportspeople are known for taking fitness very seriously. They usually don’t miss training sessions, and if they do, they need to pay fines. However, as they all are in quarantine due to the coronavirus pandemic, they have taken to the internet to connect to each other and challenge them to new fitness challenges. The Core Crusher Challenge is one such initiative.

What is the Core Crusher Challenge?

Nike started the Living Room Cup initiative, a digital workout series debuting April 5, to offer a new space to compete against Nike pro athletes through weekly fitness challenges. On this platform, Cristiano Ronaldo created the Core Crusher Challenge.

The tenet of the challenge is pretty simple. The person taking it should touch their toes as many times as possible while lying flat on their back. The aim is to encourage people to exercise while at home due to the coronavirus pandemic as much as possible.

The Portuguese superstar managed to do 142 reps in 45 seconds. However, Athletics star Caster Semenya bettered him by doing 176 reps. A lot of regular people have tried it too and have uploaded their videos.

Bruno Fernandes was not so successful with it, however. He managed to do 117 reps n 45 minutes and wrote: “#NikeLivingRoomCup – Week One. 117 Abs in 45 seconds. Not bad for a Sunday…”

However, the inventor Ronaldo was not impressed. He replied to him on his own Instagram story. He wrote: “Train your arms instead!”

Fernandes probably would take it seriously considering he considers Ronaldo as his idol. Any emerging player from Portugal who plays in the attacking position would consider the same. Although Bruno is drawing comparison to his idol, he surely has a long way to go to match Cristiano’s abs record.
