Santi Cazorla confirms the interest in highly-rated defender teammate Pau Torres from the Premier League side Arsenal.

There are numerous transfer speculations where Gunners are getting linked with a number of defenders every now and then.

Arsenal are on a lookout for defensive reinforcements in the upcoming transfer window. Villarreal defender Pau Torres fits the bill.

The highly-rated Spanish defender is linked with a move to the Premier League side this summer. Arsenal is reported as one of the interested clubs.

Villarreal defender Pau Torres has also ignited the transfer rumors after admitting that he is taking English lessons, amid speculation linking him with a move to Arsenal.

There are reports that the 23-year-old central defender is a summer target for Arsenal. Squad manager Mikel Arteta wants to make a bid after his impressive season in La Liga.

It will require strenuous efforts to attain the highly-rated defender of Villereal. Even so, Torres signed a new contract in October which reportedly contains a £43million release clause.

Torres returned from an impressive loan stint at second-tier side Malaga last season and became a regular player for Villarreal this season. The center-half also has one cap for the pain national side.

Pau Torres revealed he is learning English during his time off.

Nevertheless the Spanish international has also admitted about how he is broadening his boundaries by learning English. He is hopeful it could serve him well if a move to England happens in the future.

“In the morning I do the training regime and then I do the food following the guidelines established by the club. In the afternoon, after lunch, I study a few languages ​​because I was learning English and now is a good time to resume it”, he told El Periodico Mediterraneo.

Torres has developed himself as one of the most promising young center-backs in La Liga. The Gunners have approached for Torres in the January transfer window before wrapping up a temporary deal with Flamengo for Pablo Mari. But the north Londoners remain interested in the highly-rated Spain international.

Former Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla also the current teammate of Torres fuelled up the rumors when he confirmed the Gunners’ interest in the defender.

Cazorla plays as a Midfielder at the Villarreal. He revealed that he had received calls from his former club in February. He was asked for advice regarding the center-back Torres and winger Samuel Chukwueze.

Former Arsenal player also revealed that Arsenal wasn’t alone in enquiring about the young Villarreal team-mates.

Cazorla told Marca:

“Friends from Arsenal ask me about them and think they can make the jump to the Premier League tomorrow”.

“It’s good that great teams are having an interest in young players in Villereal. But, for the moment I tell them to leave them alone here.“

“In Pau’s case, he hears constant talk of Manchester City or Barcelona, but he is aware that he has to keep growing as a player and that in the future we will see where he can go.“
