Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp gives an update on Alisson Becker’s injury who is sidelined for Liverpool vs Atletico Madrid.
Alisson sustained the muscle problem during the training this week and was also sidelined for Liverpool’s FA Cup fifth-round defeat to Chelsea on Tuesday. Medical reports confirmed the 27-year-old will be out for at least a week.
The Brazilian goalie remains unused during the Premier League game against Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon. Furthermore, Klopp declared the goalkeeper will not play in the return leg of Liverpool Champions League last-16 clash against Atletico on Wednesday night.
Alisson missed the 2-0 FA Cup defeat to Chelsea on Tuesday. Adrian played at his place as expected between the bricks.
Jurgen Klopp revealed Alisson suffered a slight problem while training prior to the Stamford Bridge trip. He added Alisson was excluded in order to avoid the unnecessary risk and he was set to rest anyway.
But after a medical scan, it was discovered the brazil international issue was more problematic than it was thought initially.
He is ruled out of Atletico’s visit to Anfield on Wednesday, with Diego Simeone’s men 1-0 up from the first leg.

Klopp on Alisson injury:
“He had a little incident in training before the Chelsea game. We all thought it was nothing and it was clear he would not play anyway. The plan was he was on the bench.”
“There, we thought, ‘Come on, we don’t have to take any risks’ so left him out of the squad. [There was a] scan the next day and they found something. So now he is out. We will see – next week [out], for sure, and then we will see.”
When asked if Alisson will face Atletico Madrid, Klopp replied:
“No, next week not [available]. I don’t want to say no [for the Merseyside derby] but I don’t know if he will be available. He is not available for the next week, not for tomorrow and not the next week.
Liverpool is currently sitting at the top of the table and is looking to take away the Premier League title for the first time this season.
