Arsenal enquire over Bayern Munich Star

Arsenal ready to make a move for Bayern Munich defender in the January transfer window.

The Gunners are looking to bolster their defensive setup by landing in Bayern Munich’s ace defender for £12.75m.

After the injury to Calum Chambers, Arsenal are in need of a strong center-back for the rest of the season. Jerome Boateng appears to be the man to join Arsenal in January.

According to Sky Germany, Boateng has also told the German champions that he wants to leave the club this month, with Arsenal expected to make a concrete move.

Jerome Boateng hands out transfer request after his head coach Hansi Flick told that he is not guaranteed regular first-team football at the Allianz Arena.

The report claims the Gunners have already entered discussions with Bayern. The club is holding out for a £12.75million transfer fee in order to part with the 31-year-old.

Arsenal defense is still struggling to find their form even after a change in a head coach. Arsenal’s top priority in the January transfer window is to sign a prominent centre-back.

A defensive signing is top of the agenda this month after defender Calum Chambers ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament of his left knee in the 2-1 defeat to Chelsea.

Chambers might miss six to nine months of action leaving Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta short of options at the back.

What Mikel Arteta has to say about his defense?

Arteta admitted the Gunners will be in the market this month to strengthen their backline.

“We’re going to try to be in the market to see options that can strengthen the team. That’s for sure.”

“That’s our obligation. We’re going to be working on that.

“My obligation is to give my opinion on the things I think we can improve. Obviously we have some bad injury with Calum [Chambers] a few days ago that is going to change our plans at the back.

“But the reality at the moment is we’re not going to be able to do much.

“I’m more concerned at the moment to get people back from injuries than signings and try to improve the players we have here. And to get everybody on board with what we’re trying to do.

“If something extra comes up and we think it’s the right opportunity let’s do it.”

Another David Luiz?

The 31-year-old has made nine Bundesliga appearances so far this season, having fallen out of favour at the Allianz Arena. He has been at Bayern since moving from Manchester City in the summer of 2011, going onto make a total of 301 appearances for the German side.

The defender has been solid at the back but Gunners are doubting on his age and speed. Fans reacted quickly in social media after hearing this rumour that the defender is not the one they want.

Arsenal fans are worried of signing another aged centre-back, who isn’t that pacy at the back. The defender is also an injury-prone which raises questions to go for the German international.

Boateng has been part of a Bayern Munch side that has won the Bundesliga on seven occasions and was part of the German squad that won the 2014 World Cup.
