The Red Devils Belgian international couldn’t justify his start as a centre-forward on Tuesday.
Fans are not satisfied enough with Lukaku display Vs Burnley.
Ole Gunner Solskjaer’s men were hosting Burnley and were on a high after winning every game since their new manager arrived. The Norwegian incredible unbeaten run as Man United manager almost came to an end tonight, and fans were fuming about the display from striker Romelu Lukaku.
However, they had to settle for a 2-2 draw tonight, which will actually feel like a victory after going 2-0 down in front of the disbelieving home fans. Lukaku was handed a starting place tonight with on-form Marcus Rashford moving out wide and it was the first big mis-step from the baby-faced assassin, with the big striker putting in a dreadful display up top.
Lukaku managed just 18 touches during his 67-minute stay on the pitch, less than his replacement Alexis Sanchez, who had 23 touches in the 23 minutes he was on the field, highlighting Lukaku’s ineffectiveness.
He was taken off for Alexis Sanchez in the 67th minute but Chris Wood scored Burnley’s second in the 81st minute to seemingly put the tie beyond United. They proved their character however when Jesse Lingard won a penalty that Paul Pogba dispatched, before Sanchez set Victor Lindelof up for an equaliser in stoppage time.
Below are some tweets following Lukaku’s performance Tonight.
Manchester United host Burnley in the Premier League on Tuesday night. A win for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would make him the only manager in Premier League history to win his first seven games in charge of a club. Lukaku only managed to make 18 touches with the ball in 67 minutes but the result brought an end to the winning run under Solskjaer, but United still remain unbeaten under the Norwegian manager.
