Mesut Ozil sends message to Arsenal team-mates after Chelsea win

The midfielder wasn’t called upon in the derby victory over Chelsea despite being on the bench

If Arsenal fans would ask for a solution of one thing then it would be a solution to Mesut Ozil and Unai Emery saga. It’s an open secret that Unai isn’t a big fan of the German given the German’s inability to track back. The situation has led to Ozil starting only once in Premier League over the last 4 weeks. Injuries did prevent him out of the squad. But the recent omission from West Ham and Chelsea game has put the relationship in question again. Mesut Ozil has sent a message to Arsenal teammates following the London derby victory over Chelsea.

Congratulations to the whole team tonight Well played, Gunners Wishing a speedy recovery to @hectorbellerin #YaGunnersYa #COYG @Arsenal @premierleague

Mesut Ozil congratulated his team-mates on Arsenal’s 2-0 win against Chelsea despite being left out of the victory by Unai Emery. The German has not featured for the Gunners since a 1-1 draw with Brighton on Boxing Day. He was an unused substitute as goals from Alexandre Lacazette and Laurent Koscielny gave Arsenal a vital win against their top four rivals. Emery is keen on offloading Ozil so to raise funds for the transfer market and to make room on the club’s wage bill. But Ozil’s £300,000-a-week wages are a huge stumbling block for buying clubs.

Ozil’s social media interactions have been telling in recent weeks with the 30-year-old countering any reports about his fitness by revealing that he’s had a ‘full week’ of training. And the German sent a message to his team-mates after their win against Maurizio Sarri’s side. He continued his diplomacy by congratulating to his teammates. Ozil said, “Congratulations to the whole team tonight. Well played, Gunners.” Arsenal’s win came at a cost of Hector Bellerin injury.

The Spaniard went over without contact and had to be stretchered off in the second half with a suspected knee ligament injury. The German wished the right-back a ‘speedy recovery’. “Wishing a speedy recovery to @hectorbellerin” said Ozil.

Author’s Take:

It seems Ozil is trying hard to gel with the team. His recent posts is a hint of telling fans how much he is working. However, the midfielder saw the way Ramsey and Aubameyang tracked back when required. If he can do it then he can be a part of the team.
