Harry Maguire has been a real revelation for Leicester City FC as well as for the England national team
Maguire was selected as a part of the England team which visited Russia on the back of an outstanding season with Leicester City FC. He was among the few outfield players to have played every minute of every match in the 2017-18 Premier League season. The 25-year-old continued his form in Russia as well, as he turned out to be one of the best players for the English team, if not the best.
Maguire was believed to be moving out of Leicester City with Manchester United being the main suitors. Unfortunately, for the Red Devils, the deal didn’t go through as Maguire preferred to stick with the Foxes.
And now the Leicester City skipper Wes Morgan feels that Maguire is ever improving. He said,
“Ever since he’s come in, he’s been a revelation. I think he’s settled in so well, for me he’s just got better and better. The more his confidence has grown, he’s stepped into the England set-up and it looks like he’s been a part of that set-up for years.”
“The confidence he has on the ball, the way he starts attacks, he’s got a lot of attributes for a big central defender. He’s had a lot of attention on him over the summer, over possibly going to other teams. But I’m glad he’s stayed here.”
On being asked about how important it was that Maguire stayed at Leicester, Morgan continued,
“I think it’s very important. His first season was last season and he had a fantastic season, he got the player of the year award and he rightly deserved that as well.”
“I just want to see him progress, continue to improve and become the great player I know he’s going to become.”
Harry Maguire was an unexpected star of England’s fairytale run to the semi-finals of this year’s World Cup. The former Hull City centre-back is brilliant with the ball both at his feet and on his head. His skills enticed Manchester United into making a move for the Englishman. However, Maguire chose to say and there will be fair few who will now deem his decision a wrong one.
