After suffering two defeats – against Manchester City and Chelsea – Unai Emery’s Arsenal registered two back-to-back victories against West Ham and Cardiff City respectively.
Arsenal are slowly getting back on track with time. Since the North Londoners announced Arsene Wenger would step down from his role as the Gunners’ coach, a lot has been talked about the North London club. Unai Emery, who previously coached PSG, replaced the Frenchman at Arsenal, a club that needed serious reinforcements and rebuilding.
According to Arsenal’s French striker, Alexandre Lacazette, the Gunners are improving post the Arsene Wenger era. The striker also asserted confidence in the fact that Arsenal would get better in the coming weeks. He said, “I know with the new manager it can only be better. We will be better week after week, you can see we had the mentality. Last season we lost this kind of game. But if you see the faces after the second goal we had confidence and that was why we came back. I think we won just two games in 2018 away from home.”
The attacker also said that the result so far has been good. Lacazette, who scored the winner for Arsenal against Cardiff in their clash, said, “This season we want to be better away and it was the first game we won and I hope that it will be the first of many until the last day of the season. Overall it has been good even if we had two losses. They were against the two champions of the past two seasons.”
The former Lyon forward linked well with Pierre Aubameyang in their recent game. Both of them also got on the scoresheet in Arsenal’s victory against Cardiff. Speaking about his partner at the attacking front, Lacazette said, “It is nice as we complement each other’s game. It is always good to play with good players and he deserved to score as he has worked hard from the beginning of the season. Against Chelsea, it was hard for him as he missed some chances but he has got over that, and it was nice to play well with him.”
Author’s Take
Like the 27-year-old French forward said, Arsenal are slowly getting better under the tutelage of Unai Emery. The former gaffer had only got a few weeks before the league kick-started. Hence, the players could not adapt to his style of game. With time, they would adapt and then, there will be no denying that Arsenal would be a force to reckon.
