The rivalry between Barcelona and Real Madrid is one of, if not, the fiercest rivalries in football and the El Clasico is very much anticipated. La Liga has confirmed the date for the first El Clasico of the season.
Barcelona and Real Madrid have been the strongest contenders for the Spanish La Liga for a long time. Hence, El Clasico is a very important fixture in the La Liga because it is the tie that often decides the title race between the two.
It is not just the fans of both the clubs that look forward to the match, but also the whole football world watches when the Blaugrana and Los Blancos go up against each other. And now, the date for the first La Liga El Clasico of the 2018/19 season has been revealed, leaving the fans of the game buzzing.
La Liga president Javier Tebas revealed on Friday that title defenders Barcelona will be welcoming rivals Real Madrid to the Camp Nou on 28th of October in what will be the first Clasico of the season.
It is worth noting that this will be the first time the two sides will be meeting after Real Madrid’s star man Cristiano Ronaldo left for Juventus and it be exciting to see how the Madrid side will fare without him.
The last time the two sides met, the game ended in a 2-2 draw with Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale claiming a goal each. However, Barcelona had already clinched the league title one week before the match and so that Clasico was rather pointless.
El Clasico is one of the most anticipated matches in a season and there will be even more excitement to see it this time as Real Madrid will be without Ronaldo.
