Spain and FC Barcelona striker Paco Alcacer has joined German side Borussia Dortmund on a loan deal.
FC Barcelona have officially confirmed that their 24-year-old Spanish attacker Paco Alcacer will join German behemoths Borussia Dortmund on a loan deal, which would see the player ply his trade for the German side for one year. It has also been confirmed that Borussia Dortmund will pay 2 million Euros to Barcelona for the player. It is also confirmed that they would be able to permanently sign the player if they pay 25 million Euros plus 5 million Euros to defending La Liga champions.
Paco Alcacer joined FC Barcelona from Valencia in 2016. Once widely touted as the next big thing, Alcacer failed to earn regular playing time at FC Barcelona’s star-studded squad. He made 27 appearances for FC Barcelona in the season he arrived and scored 8 goals for the club.
Last season, he made 23 appearances for the Catalan side and scored on 7 occasions for the club. However, a majority of his FC Barcelona appearances were as a substitute. He failed to cement his place in the squad as he warmed the bench while Messi and Co. ran riots.
The move to Borussia Dortmund will do good to the player as he will now be able to play regularly and take his game to the next level. While the absence of playing time at FC Barcelona hindered his progress, he will now be aiming to play a crucial role for Borussia Dortmund, who look to end Bayern Munich’s dominance in Spain.
After completing the move, the Spanish forward said, “I’m really looking forward to playing in the Bundesliga soon. This is one of the best leagues in the world, and BVB with these incredible fans and the famous South Stand probably has something magical for every footballer,”
“We are very happy that Paco Alcácer has decided in favor of Borussia Dortmund and we firmly believe that this type of player fits well with our way of playing. Paco has its quality at an early age proved at Valencia, scored many goals and as a just 22-year-old experienced special appreciation by having him transferred to the captaincy. In Barcelona, he worked daily with some of the best players in the world. It is due to the extreme competition in the club’s offensive that he has now decided to take a fresh start after two years.” said BVB director Michael Zorc.
Paco will be hoping to reimplement his game and score goals and help Borussia Dortmund achieve success. He could be their key player this season as there is no doubt he will earn regular playing time.
