Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool reached the finals of UEFA Champions League last season but Real Madrid eventually emerged victorious as Karius’ howlers helped Los Blancos put the Reds to the sword.
Jurgen Klopp’s and Liverpool’s gegenpressing football almost helped them clinch the Uefa Champions League last season before Real Madrid clinched it for the third time in a row. Mohamed Salah and Co were impressive throughout the season and were unlucky not to win the coveted European title.
It was Karius’ howlers in the final that helped Real Madrid get the better of Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool. Karius’ first blooper helped Karim Benzema score Real Madrid’s first goal. Karius repeated his flawy performance as he failed to comfortably save Gareth Bale’s long-range attempt, which he could easily have been saved.
Liverpool bought Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson, who was resolute between the sticks for AS Roma last season, this summer. The Brazilian goalkeeper who guarded the goal for Brazil in the FIFA World Cup 2018 has so far made 3 appearances for Liverpool and kept clean-sheets in all three fixtures.
Against Brighton and Hove Albion, who defeated Manchester United, Alisson made a crucial save to help Liverpool secure all three points. When asked if Allison was the final piece in Liverpool’s jigsaw, the coach said, “Looks like (it),”
However, Klopp is not happy with one thing Alisson does. The former Borussia Dortmund coach said, “The free-kick last week, the header today. I don’t like actually this little chip when he came out the goal but I never had a Brazilian goalkeeper (before). It’s all good,” added Klopp.”
The coach also admitted that the former AS Roma shot-stopper was a massive signing for the Reds. Klopp said, “He’s a massive signing for us of course… that’s why we brought him in.”
Liverpool will face Leicester City in their next Premier League fixture as they look to keep their position on the top of the table intact.
Liverpool made some shrewd business this summer by signing Alisson from AS Roma for a then record fee for a goalkeeper. It seems like the move has paid dividends with Alisson displaying fantabulous performances for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
