Eden Hazard has been on Real Madrid’s radar for quite some time now. His father has now spoken about the links with the Whites and here are Mr. Thierry’s views.
Eden Hazard has been with Chelsea for over five years now. The Belgian has tasted unparalleled success with the club having won two Premier Leagues and a Champions League in addition to a lot of other trophies. However, that has to lead the Chelsea star leading Real Madrid and president Florentino Perez’s list for quite a long time and the Belgium star has even hinted at potential moves to the Spanish capital on several occasions.
However, he recently said that he will stick with Chelsea for this season and his father fears that the move might never formulate now, with Zinedine Zidane to blame. Thierry Hazard is aware of his son’s long pending dream to play for the club and his admiration for former coach and player Zinedine Zidane.
The feeling is mutual between the two parties and the 27-year-old extremely keen on moving to the European champions. However, Chelsea is now looking to tie him down a contract worth 300,000 pounds per week to fend off interest from Real Madrid and will be hoping that he stays with the club for a long time to come.
Hazard’s dad said, “I cannot say why it did not go through. Not because I do not want to but because I do not know. Next year, Eden will have one year left on his contract but perhaps he never ends up in Madrid. It may be that it was a different story with Zidane. But then he will have had his reasons to leave.”
If Eden Hazard does not choose to commit his future to Chelsea in the coming days, or probably even by the next summer, Real Madrid would have a golden chance to lure him to the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium. With one year left on his contract for Thibaut Courtois, they got him for just 35 million euros and could get Hazard on a bargain next year as well.
