Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has put an end to the speculation over a rift between him and Paul Pogba, insisting he ‘couldn’t be happier’ with the Frenchman.
Jose Mourinho has broken his silence on his relationship with French World Cup winner Paul Pogba. The Portuguese boss insists there has been no disagreement with Manchester United’s record signing. A summer of discontent has seen repeated reports that Pogba wishes to leave the club he joined from Juventus for 89.3 million euros two summers ago, and move to Barcelona.
According to The Evening Standard, the enigmatic playmaker hasn’t seen eye to eye with Mourinho since his return. Barcelona have been monitoring his situation with great interest.
The former Juventus player said after the 2-1 win against Leicester: “If you’re not happy, you cannot give your best. There are things I cannot say otherwise I will get fined.” This sparked rumours about the feud between Pogba and Mourinho.
However, The ES also reports that the Portuguese boss has tried to put pay to any rumours of bad blood between him and Pogba in a press conference today, stating that the French star is ‘working well’.
“The truth is we are together for two years and a couple of weeks, and I’ve never been so happy with him as I am now,” Mourinho told reporters – as per The ES.
“He’s working well, he’s playing well, he does for the fans, he does for the team and that’s what I want. I want him to play for the team, which he is doing, and, I repeat, I couldn’t be happier than I am.”
It’s good to see that the tension at Old Trafford is cooling down with time. Honestly, Pogba needs to know that Barcelona doesn’t need him right now and he can be the hero for Manchester United this season. So, he should completely focus on his performances ahead.
