Barcelona Are Not Interested In Signing World Cup Winner

According to news outlet SPORT, La Blaugrana is not keen on bringing in Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba to the Camp Nou.

Pogba joined Manchester United back in the summer of 2016 but has had a rollercoaster of a two-season spell at Old Trafford. Having shown glimpses of brilliance to being dropped recently, Pogba has never been away from the headlines. And most recently too, the midfield gem scored a beauty in the FIFA World Cup final against Croatia to help his national side win the grand tournament. Despite silencing most of his critics in Russia, Pogba will most likely head back to Manchester United where he will play under Jose Mourinho.

The Portuguese boss has received plenty of negative remarks following his defensive approach to games and not allowing key players to play with freedom on the pitch. The Manchester United ace has been one of those players who reportedly is at loggerheads with Mourinho regarding ego’s clashing and was linked with a move away from Old Trafford this summer.

Pogba also hinted that La Liga champions Barcelona was his ‘dream club’ and that he wanted to play alongside Argentine Lionel Messi. But it turns out that the Catalonian giants are not interested in his services. Barcelona lost legendary midfielder Andres Iniesta this summer and his replacement Antoine Griezmann pledged his future to Atletico Madrid, but La Blaugrana has no solid interest in Griezmann’s national compatriot Pogba and will not bid for him in this summer transfer window.

Transfer Fee The Issue?-

According to Sport, Barcelona is not willing to pay €150 million for Barcelona and Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola has already met with Barcelona’s sporting director Eric Abidal regarding a move for his client to Spain. But having brought Pogba from Juventus to Manchester United for a fee of £89 million, the Red Devils want to make a substantial profit after the 25-year-old won the FIFA World Cup.

Author’s Take-

I don’t think that Pogba would fit in well at Barcelona because he is a different kind of player than what Barcelona preaches in philosophy. Pogba does seek attention but at Barcelona, most of the players are unselfish and play for the better of the team.
