Manchester United are expected to have a busy summer and they will look to ship out a few players as they plan to return to the top of the Premier League.
Jose Mourinho will be making sure that there is no stone unturned as he guns for glory next season. The Manchester United boss has already signed Diogo Dalot, Fred and Lee Grant and expects to bring in a few more. So he’ll look to move a few players on. The first on the list seems to be Daley Blind.

Statement from Ajax
The Eredivisie club confirmed the re-acquiring Daley Blind from Manchester United.“Ajax and Manchester United FC have reached an agreement for the transfer of Daley Blind. The international is expected to sign a four-year contract which will then take effect immediately until June 30, 2022. Ajax will pay a transfer sum of 16 million euro to Manchester United, and this amount could potentially increase a maximum of 20,5 million euro due to variable factors,” read the statement.
Blind was with Ajax’s youth academy since age 8. He made his debut in the first team on December 7, 2008, in Ajax’s 2-1 win away to FC Volendam. The left-footed player was loaned out to FC Groningen in the second half of the 2009-2010 season. He has played in a total of 143 games with Ajax’s first team and has scored three times. He won the championship four times with Ajax: 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014. The Ajacied also won the Johan Cruijff Shield in 2013.
Van der Sar on Blind to Ajax
The former Red Devil had admitted that Ajax was keen to bring Daley Blind back to Amsterdam.“I think Daley is a fantastic player,” the Ajax CEO told Omnisport, speaking courtesy of Adidas.“He’s multi-functional, can be a left-back, centre-half and a defensive midfielder. For the Netherlands and for Manchester United, he played many good games. I think it’s no secret that we [Ajax] are still looking for a central defender and, if possible, it would be a great addition for Ajax to have a player with the quality of Daley to fit in the team.
However, he insisted on keeping his options open in case the deal failed to materialise.“But we still have to look at how the options are possible.” Earlier Ajax manager Erik ten Hag had also said he was doing everything to make it happen.
Daley Blind was a key place for Louis Van Gaal before the Dutchman was replaced by the charismatic Mourinho. Blind was never really appreciated by Jose and was assigned a bit part role. This deal is in the best interests of all the parties involved. Manchester United fans might not regard him as the best but will only have respect for placing the team ahead of everything.
