Jose Mourinho is willing to give Luke Shaw another chance to earn his spot in the first eleven as the player considers his future
Manchester United face a difficult start to the season with no less than 7 of their first-team members going into the final weekend of the World Cup. One man who’ll be looking to make the best of this situation is Luke Shaw. The youngster hasn’t quite been able to kick on since his big-money move to Manchester United. Injuries have played their part but Mourinho hasn’t been kind to the youngster either.
The Red Devils have been incessantly linked with Alex Sandro over the past couple of season as Shaw has watched from the sidelines. But the Englishman is not willing to give up just yet. Shaw wants to fight for his place in the United starting eleven. He is among the members of United’s pre-season squad and will have a chance to showcase his skills against some high calibre opponents.
Shaw started just 8 Premier League games last season as it was clear that Mourinho preferred the 33-year-old converted left-back Ashley Young instead of the former Southampton player. However, Daily Star reports that Shaw hs ben assured that no new signings will be made in the left-back department. This will give the 23-year-old ample opportunity to prove his worth.

Though he still has 12 months remaining on his contract, Shaw is in no hurry to sign an extension. He will give his best this season but Manchester Evening News report that he will have no qualms about leaving on free.
Safe to say that the youngster has not had the best of times since swapping Saint Mary’s for Old Trafford. His relationship with Mourinho can be blamed to an extent – the Portugues has called him out on his fitness and physique on more than one occasion. However, Shaw is still 23, injuries permitting he can still play for another 10 years at the top level. A shot at being Manchester United’s left-back this season beckons for the youngster.
