Mohamed Salah’s involvement in the World Cup was thrown into doubt after the Kiev incidence but according to Egypt’s head coach Hector Cuper, he is 100% ready for Egypt’s world cup opener.
Liverpool and Egypt’s star forward Mohamed Salah was busy past couple of weeks nursing his shoulder problem following a harsh challenge by Sergio Ramos in the Champions League final back at the end of May. The Egyptian’s involvement in the World Cup was uncertain due to the shoulder injury but Pharaoh’s head coach Hector Cuper has given lifeline for the Egyptians insisting their star man will be 100% ready to start Egypt’s world cup opener against Uruguay at Yekaterinburg stadium.

When asked about Salah’s fitness, Hector Cuper said:
“Salah is doing very well indeed, he’s recovered very quickly. We’ll see how it goes today. I can almost assure you 100 per cent he’ll play.”
“We’re trying to make him feel confident. The doctors are giving him the option to play or not. I know him very well, and I’m sure he’s not afraid.”
“A risk of playing a match is something we can’t hide. In terms of him on the pitch, he’ll have full guarantees. If we do see at the last minute there’s an issue, we’ll see if it can be resolved.”
“We are all very optimistic that he will be on the pitch.”
Cuper also added: “Nothing prevents him from competing for the title of the golden boot.”
Salah has worked tirelessly in an effort to get himself ready to feature in his first world cup for the Pharaohs. Salah had an unbelievable campaign at Anfield last season and had a key role to bring his nation to World since 1990 by scoring a memorable penalty against Republic of Congo deep in injury time.
There will have been a collective sigh of relief throughout Egypt upon hearing this news, and across most of the watching world, in fact.
