United Boss Wants Serie A Linked Star To Leave The Club

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has possibly hinted at Anthony Martial leaving the club in the summer transfer window.

Anthony Martial’s days at Manchester United may be numbered after what his manager has revealed in the latest presser two days ago. The French sensation arrived at Old Trafford in the summer of 2015 from Ligue 1 side AS Monaco and broke the record for the most expensive teenager transfer at a whopping £54 million. He made the perfect start to his Manchester United career as he scored on his league debut against fiercest rivals Liverpool and ended the season with 17 goals. But it hasn’t quite worked out for Martial ever since Mourinho took over a couple of seasons ago.

Despite scoring 11 times in limited appearances this season, Martial has not managed to cement his place in Mourinho’s first team and due to the lack of game time the 22-year-old winger has gotten frustrated and revealed to his teammates that he wants out of the Theater Of Dreams. Serie A giants Juventus are monitoring Martial’s situation and will be ready to swoop in for him if he is available. But Jose Mourinho has made it quite clear that he does not want to keep hold of players that are unhappy at United and are free to leave if they want to.

If Martial wants to go… then he can…

Mourinho Hints At A Few Payers Departing This Term

According to news outlet Tuttosport, the ‘Special One’ spoke on hoping to groom young talents rather than spend more on transfer, “We are going to invest the basic to improve our squad. “We need to find a replacement for [Michael] Carrick and for [Marouane] Fellaini if he leaves,” said Mourinho.

Mourinho also hinted at the few players leaving the Club if they want, if they are unable to get regular football, “And there is always in a squad, a player or a couple of players, who are not playing a lot and will try to leave. So we will touch our squad but more than spend, spend, spend, we believe in the evolution of our players. We have some young players that need to take with both hands the opportunities for their evolution.”

Martial was an unused substitute in United’s 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur in the semi-final of the FA Cup and the likes of Jesse Lingard, Alexis Sanchez, Juan Mata and Marcus Rashford have pushed Martial further down the pecking order.

Author’s Take-

Martial could leave and this is a very open statement from his boss which has backed his move to a club away from Manchester United. I feel that Martial should leave because he is capable of playing at a better club and his potential is being wasted at United under Mourinho as their styles do not sync.
