Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane admits Real Madrid is ’emotionally prepared’ ahead of their clash against the Bavarians.
Zinedine Zidane was not short of words during a press conference ahead of their crucial semi-final tie with Bayern Munich. The Frenchman was very frank in admitting that his team will not crack under pressure as they face the German giants at the Allianz Arena on Thursday. Real Madrid managed to escape a comeback by Juventus in the second leg after a Cristiano Ronaldo penalty secured a semi-final spot for the European Champions.
Both clubs have experienced a rough start to their domestic campaigns with Real having lost their place in the contention for the title and Bayern Munich adjusting after the sacking of Carlo Ancelotti. With the arrival of Jupp Heynckes, Bayern is now planning to avoid a repeat of last season’s defeat to the Galacticos.
While speaking to reporters during a press conference, the Frenchman said: “We are not going to s**t in our pants, there is no such this. We like to play these games, are emotionally well, and we are prepared to play a great game.”
The tie will also see Colombian James Rodriguez face the club which he had left on a loan i.e. Real Madrid after struggling to gain Zidane’s favor. The Real Madrid boss, however, claims that he still considers the playmaker in high regard.
“I didn’t want him to leave,” Zidane further added. “He wanted to play more and I understand, I’ve never had problems with James. This year it’s been the same with other players who remain on the bench, and it’s a f**ker for a coach. He’s going to be motivated because he’s a football player and wants to do well. Anyone who thinks I’m against James is wrong, he’s a great player.”
James Rodriguez has found new found form after joining the Bavarians and has played a crucial role in their current season so far. On Thursday, the Colombian will have a point to prove once he sets foot at the Allianz and then at the Bernabeu in the following weeks.
This is one of those classic Champions League ties where no one knows who might end up on top. Some may argue that Real Madrid have the edge considering Ronaldo’s fine form. However, Juventus proved that Real can be beaten in the Champions League and this has shown that the mighty European Champions are vulnerable. If Bayern can regroup and take Real by surprise, expect an exciting matchup between these two powerhouses of European football.
