Jose Mourinho has identified a few wing-backs he wants to sign in order to bolster his squad for next season along with Spurs left-back Danny Rose on the radar.
Manchester United lost out on the Premier League to local city rivals Manchester City as Pep Guardiola clinched the Premier League title a few weeks ago. Therefor Mourinho knows that his squad is not yet ready enough to challenge for the title next season as he fell short by quite a bit this term. United are looking for new wing-backs to strengthen their left and right defensive options.

Although Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young have done a decent job ever since shifting into defensive positions, the ‘Special One knows that these two are not the long-term options given their age and unnatural ability to identify danger. Matteo Darmian and Luke Shaw have not been able to impress their Portuguese boss despite given a few opportunities. Valencia and Young are 32 years of age and Mourinho needs a quicker, adept and strong defender for the future.
United Eyeing League Rivals Star Danny Rose-
The Red Devils were keen on signing Rose earlier this year in January but the Englishman was out injured for another 10 months due to a knee injury. Rose has always stated that he wants to win more trophies in his career but Spurs will end another season without silverware after they were beaten by Manchester United in the FA Cup semi-finals.
However, United are keen on stepping up their chase for the 27-year-old because he is widely regarded as one of the best wing-backs in the country. And although Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy will make transfers difficult for United, the Red side of Manchester would be willing to pay the price for the highly energetic defender.
Author’s Take-
I feel Danny Rose will be an incredible signing for Manchester United and they should pay the price that Tottenham demand. He is quick, versatile strong and should fit into Mourinho’s winning philosophy quite well.
