Chelsea Narrow Down To Two Managerial Targets To Replace Antonio Conte

The Blues have reportedly abandoned their chase in recruiting Arsenal bound manager Luis Enrique while two candidates are still running strong for Antonio Conte’s replacement.

Chelsea has had a horrendous campaign so far in the Premier League and currently sit fifth in the Premier League. Blues manager Antonio Conte has come under heavy scrutiny with his job due to the run of poor performances and will probably miss out on Champions League football season next year. Chelsea was also humbled out of the Champions League against La Liga giants Barcelona in the Round of 16.

With Conte’s job under jeopardy, Chelsea is also on the look-out for a new manager and ex-Barcelona man Luis Enrique was in line to take over the reins at Stamford Bridge. However, according to the latest reports the Spaniard has been linked to replace Arsene Wenger at Arsenal. The French boss announced that he will be leaving after his 22-year spell at the North London outfit.

Chelsea in The Hunt For Two Serie A Managers-

Massimiliano Allegri has stated that he would like to coach abroad and outside of Italy for his next job and Chelsea are keen on replacing Conte with his national compatriot who has won four domestic doubles on the trot with Juventus. The 50-year-old is a heavy contender for the Chelsea job and is the front-runner among his league rival at the moment, Maurizio Sarri.

The 59-year-old has been tipped to take over the Chelsea job after taking Napoli to second on the Serie A table. Napoli is in close contention of winning the Italian league against Juventus after beating them 1-0 and are now just one point behind the Old Lady with four games left and a lot of credit needs to be given to Sarri. Sarri has broken the record for most consecutive league victories with Napoli and has kept them in red-hot form since taking charge in 2015.

Author’s Take-

Honestly, I would love to see Sarri in England because I think he is a very underrated coach who can maximize results with minimal resources. Allegri, on the other hand, is a great choice too and I presume that he would be chosen for the Chelsea job if Conte leaves.
