HUGE BLOW: Real Madrid to miss out on three of their most important targets

Los Blancos were hoping to replace Zinedine Zidane by landing Tottenham’s Mauricio Pochettino for the job. But their hopes have received a huge blow after the recent reports.

Real Madrid have failed to capitalize on their last season’s stunning form as the Spanish and European Champions face the possibility of a trophyless season. Despite being the favourites in the Champions League, Real Madrid are looking for options to Replace Zinedine Zidane.

No Pochettino at Madrid?

Mauricio Pochettino has been on the top of Madrid’s list for some time now. But the North London club is reportedly ready to offer a huge contract to the Argentine in order to keep him in their dugout. According to the reports in Telegraph, Pochettino will be offered a contract worth £8.5m-a-year. Along with Real Madrid, the manager was linked with Chelsea, PSG and Juventus, but he is ready to reject other clubs to sign a bumper deal for the Spurs.

The reports suggest that Tottenham will also offer new deals to their key players. Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Christian Eriksen, Heung-min Son and Hugo Lloris have garnered interests from various clubs in recent times and Spurs are eager to keep them in London at any cost.

The new deals to Harry Kane and Dele Alli will be another big setback for Los Blancos. Both the players were expected to be an integral part in Real Madrid’s rumoured transfer spree this summer. Harry Kane is considered as Real Madrid’s solution to the No. 9 problems, but the new reports could change things drastically for Perez and his board.

Real Madrid will face Juventus in the quarter-finals of the Champions League tonight. The current title holders are fighting to win the converted trophy for the third season in a row.

Author’s Take:

The rumours about Zidane’s departure should always be taken with a pinch of salt. The Frenchman has a chance to be at the Santiago Bernabeu depending on Madrid’s performance in the Champions League.

But this is great news for Spurs, who need their core members and Pochettino to stay at the club to compete for the Premier League. Spurs have shown that they can also go face to face with the European giants in the Champions League. Come next season, with this squad, they will be much more dangerous.
