Antonio Conte takes another swipe at Chelsea board

Antonio Conte has tagged himself as a ‘disaster’ when it comes to convincing the Chelsea board to sign players

The Italian continues to play with fire after taking another dig at the Chelsea Board. Conte has been frustrated with the Chelsea board since the summer. He feels that the club has failed to back him in the transfer market despite delivering an unlikely Premier League victory in his debut season.

Conte, interestingly, walked out on Juventus harbouring similar emotions. Juventus didn’t spend enough to compete with the big boys in Europe according to him, which ultimately lead to him parting ways with the Turin club.

Conte’s confrontational personality has seen him involved in several spats throughout the season

Labelling himself a ‘disaster’ Conte talked about his inadequacies in getting his favoured players. He said, “I have to speak with other managers who are very, very good at persuading their club to spend money to buy big players.”

“I’m a bit of a disaster to convince the club to buy players. I think in this aspect I can improve a lot. I have to learn from the other coaches, the other managers, in that aspect.”

Conte did reserve some praise for himself, saying that he was great at getting the best out of the players given to him. He went on to add, “Usually in my experience, I reached the best results possible with the players I have to work with.”

“I think I’m the type of coach who, if I have a player who is six, I bring him to an eight. If I have a player who is eight, I take him to 10. I’m this type of coach.”

“My task is to improve every single player, in every aspect. About mentality also. About the desire, the will to fight, and the tactical aspects. Yes. My task is this. For this, I’m very good.”

Author’s Take

Conte’s a daring man, to say the least. He has been taking on Roman Abramovich head on for the past 8 months and is somehow winning. The Russian oligarch has refrained from sacking the serial winner as of yet. However, if he continues this, Conte will be let go irrespective of the results.
