According to reports, Chinese Super League side Hebei China Fortune willing to break the bank to lure the Barcelona Talisman Lionel Messi away.
Clubs in the Chinese Super League have coveted the five-time Ballon d’Or-winner since they began splashing out huge money on some of the biggest names in the world of football. Now according to some reports, it is Lionel Messi who is being lined up by Hebei China Fortune in a transfer that would shock world football. The government-funded Chinese Super League would have to break their bank accounts in order to make this deal happen.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has been at Barcelona since the beginning of his career and is said to have turned down wages of £1.7m a week to join the Chinese club prior to signing a new deal at Camp Nou in November. But the Chinese Super League team will reportedly make another move for the Argentine wizard.
Messi’s contract runs until 2021 and reportedly contains a €700 Million release clause in it. But according to Mundo Deportivo, that doesn’t make Chinese Super League side to resign from the hopes of the getting the player.
Hebei China Fortune still remains undeterred in their quest to sign the Barcelona talisman. The Chinese Super League wants Messi to be the face of the league and are eager to make a substantial bid for the Argentine forward in the summer.

Mundo Deportivo also reports that Hebei Fortune signing the Argentine duo of Ezequiel Lavezzi and Javier Mascherano was part of a massive plan to lure Messi to the Chinese Super League with the help of the two mentioned players.
Former Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini is in charge of the Chinese side that finished fourth in last previous edition of Chinese Super League. Javier Mascherano, who happens to be a close friend of Messi, left Barcelona after seven years of service and recently made his debut in Chinese side’s 2-1 victory over Spartak Moscow.
It is said that Pellegrini would love to add Messi to his team’s ranks as they look forward to overthrowing their arch-rivals Guangzhou Evergrande. However, the new transfer tax of 100% of the fee for overseas players introduced by Chinese football league may stand in Hebei Fortune’s way to sign Messi.
Hebei China Fortune will have to rely on the financial support of global companies to help fund their audacious offer. Chinese Super League side also believes that signing of Messi’s fellow countrymen – Javier Mascherano and Ezequiel Lavezzi – will also play a crucial role in bringing the superstar to Asia.
The Argentine wizard has been lethal in front of goal this season as Barcelona sets their eye on the third treble. Messi has netted 27 goals in 34 games in all competitions this term, alongside 14 assists.
I personally don’t feel that Messi is ever gonna move to China. Messi still has a lot of years to play on his peak and moving to China in between this would be considered as a step backward. Messi still has a still has a plenty in his tank to give Barcelona before he heads off to play in a sub-standard league in the twilight of his career.
