Eden Hazard has hailed Lionel Messi’s brilliance for the Blaugrana this term.
Chelsea frontman Hazard becomes the latest admirer of the diminutive Argentine’s magic. Chelsea is due to face Barcelona in the last 16 of the Champions League, and the Belgian has highlighted the presence of a game changer in opposition ranks. According to him, the Catalans are a big threat despite losing Neymar to PSG last summer.
Barcelona has stomped their authority in the La Liga, opening up a 9 point gap at the top. Their performances in Europe have been equally impressive, and one man is at the heart of that, Lionel Messi. He is the go-to man whenever the Blaugrana face a hurdle. Chelsea will have to find a way past not only the Argentine maestro but the whole Barcelona team believes Eden Hazard.
Hazard hails “superclass” Messi
When quizzed about the biggest threat from the Spanish giants Chelsea forward Eden Hazard named the obvious culprit. Speaking to Marca, he said,”You know, they have a guy who is not from this world, He’s different, a superclass. But this is not about one player, it is about the whole team.”
The Blues have been in terrible form ahead of their meeting with the Catalans, conceding two defeats in a row. However, the 27-year-old forward believes his team still has a lot of fight in them. The Belgian added,”I’m pretty sure we can beat them if we play together. This season we are not the same as last season, of course, and they are very good but in the end, it is a cup tie and you never know what happens. That’s why we love football. It’s a beautiful match. We’ll see.”

Chelsea has domestically fallen 19 points behind league leaders Manchester City. Their only hopes of salvaging a silverware remain in the FA Cup and the Champions League. Even before the torrid time they suffered recently the Londoners were clearly the underdogs in their tie against Barcelona. Under fire manager, Antonio Conte will have a hard time against a high spirited Barcelona side who have a good record against English opponents in the Champions League.
Chelsea has a mountain to climb. Their recent form is doing them no good, and the onus will be on Conte to produce a miracle from somewhere. Hazard, for his part, was spot on. Rarely have the Catalans struggled this season, and whenever they looked short, up stepped Lionel Messi. The Argentine is practically unplayable these days, highlighting his importance for the Camp Nou outfit.
