According to Diario Gol, Barcelona talisman Lionel Messi has reportedly urged his club’s board to consider a move for Bayern Munich starlet David Alaba.
Barcelona is off to a flying start this season. Since Ernesto Valverde took charge of the club, there is no looking back for the Catalans. They are a staggering 19 points clear of their arch-rivals Real Madrid who are languishing in the fourth spot. But according to Spanish publication Diario Gol, Messi doesn’t want Camp Nou Chiefs to rest on their laurels.
The Argentine wizard has been impressed with Alaba’s performances at Allianz Arena this season. Seeing his performances, it has been reported that Messi has demanded Camp Nou chiefs to snap up Alaba from Bayern Munich in order to bolster their defense. Barcelona is looking to add more to their defensive options. Even though the defensive options they have at the moment is one to look for but still, there’s always room for improvement.
Samuel Umtiti has been impressed this season. However, Gerard Pique has looked a bit shaky this season. The Catalans have drafted in Yerry Mina, but the Colombian international will take some time to adapt to the pace of European football. However, it is said that it won’t be so easy for Barcelona to buy David Alaba.
The Catalans will face a stiff competition for Alaba from their arch-rivals Real Madrid. Diario Gol reported that Los Blancos are serious suitors for Alaba’s signature and will try to do everything to get the player. Don Balon earlier reported that Alaba would cost Barça around £88 Million and the Austrian would be happy to seal a move away from the Bundesliga at the end of this campaign. But with Real Madrid entering the race to sign the player, the prices would surely go high.

The Austrian has been with Bavarians since the beginning of his career and has shone at the highest level for Bayern since bursting onto the scene at the age of 18. He became a regular member of Bavarians senior side during the 2011/12 campaign and has never looked back since then.
It won’t come as a surprise to anyone if he joins Barcelona or Real Madrid as he is looking forward to trying a new challenge abroad and there aren’t any names bigger then Barcelona and Real Madrid for now.
What a signing he could be. The Austrian is full of energy, possession and not just that he’s also very versatile and can play as a defender or even as a midfielder. He doesn’t negate his responsibilities at the back, either, as he is aware and positionally smart on the rare occasion the Munich giants have some defending to do. He’s surely a world-class talent that would improve any squad in the game.
