Former Liverpool star Luis Suarez could be on his way back to Premier League if Chelsea sacks their current manager Antonio Conte and appoints Luis Enrique in his place.
According to Spanish publications Sport, former Barcelona manager Luis Enrique is on top of Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich’s desired managerial wish-list to replace Antonio Conte. Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is facing an uncertain future at the Stamford Bridge.
According to some reports, Luis Enrique is in a very enviable position to replace Conte, especially if the Blues need a replacement for Conte before the end of the season. Chelsea has made a very shabby start to the season and recently lost 4-1 to Watford.
According to El Chiringuito TV, Luis Enrique is ready to accept the job at Chelsea. And some rumors are now suggesting that once he joins Chelsea, he will make 31-year-old Uruguayan wizard Suarez his first signing at Stamford Bridge.
The former Barcelona boss was in charge when the Uruguayan moved to Camp Nou from Liverpool, while Conte has made no secret of his desire to add more firepower at Stamford Bridge. It looks like Enrique has arrived at the same conclusion again and would want Suarez to partner with Alvaro Morata at the Stamford Bridge.
Over their three seasons together at the Camp Nou, Suarez scored 121 goals in all competitions and established his status as one of the most lethal strikers in the world. The duo of player and manager won nine trophies together, including the Champions League and two La Liga titles.
Ironically, Conte’s fate will also be decided by Luis Suarez and Enrique’s old club Barcelona, who Chelsea takes on in the last 16 of the Champions League. Other than Luis Enrique, two more names are being linked with Chelsea: Maurizio Saari and Thomas Tuchel.

Napoli manager Maurizio Sarri has his admirers but luring him away from Serie A mid-season would be problematic. Thomas Tuchel is another candidate. Like Enrique, the former Borussia Dortmund coach is unemployed and would be easily obtainable. Chelsea will now be back in action on Tuesday when Blues take on West Bromwich at the Stamford Bridge.
Little consideration should be given on the fact that Enrique might not be ready to return to football after his year-long break – this is one of the good reasons to believe that Luis Suarez won’t be coming to Premier League anytime soon.
