Mauro Icardi put out an ambiguous Instagram post stumping both Real Madrid and Inter fans
Icardi has been amongst the names when talking about Real’s potential transfer targets. The Inter captain has been in scintillating form this season scoring 18 goals in all competitions. While his Real Madrid counterparts’ struggles have been something for which Madrid have paid a heavy price already. With talks of a summer overhaul running rampant, no deal seemed to be in the pipeline except the one for Icardi. The rumours of that move too have gone quiet over the past 10 days. Now, however, things might change.
Mauro Icardi’s message to his fans
Icard posted the following on Instagram late last night:
Chau Chau 🤔
There were two things intriguing about this ambivalent post. First, were the actual words written which translate to “Being able to say goodbye is to grow”, also notable was the fact that the words are written in Spanish and not Italian. Secondly, Icardi disabled comments on the aforementioned giving the fans of either club opportunity aplenty to speculate on his future.
With Zinedine Zidane reiterating time and again that the club does not need any new signings, this transfer hint from the 24-year-old has come as a huge surprise. It seems that Florentino Perez might be the man behind this and has finally pulled the trigger on the move.
Icardi, despite his young age, has been a regular fixture in the Inter starting eleven ever since his move to the San Siro in 2013. He has since scored a total of 93 in 150 appearances at an average of 0.62 goals per game. Real Madrid has been following the Argentine for long with his release clause reportedly being an affordable €111 million (£97.8 million).
Icardi has been known for his social media antics. I believe this is another one of those posts just made out for speculation. Madrid’s interest hasn’t reached to the point of an agreement between them and Inter. However, Perez is a magician in the transfer market. With only a couple of days till its closing, it’ll be interesting to see if the move actually goes through.
