Borussia Dortmund are on the verge of completing a deal for Chelsea’s Michy Batshuayi
The transfer merry go round is now in full swing as Arsenal inch closer towards sealing a move for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in a deal worth £58 million. The Gabonese will reportedly be on wages worth £180,000-a-week. This deal is expected to spark a plethora of transfers in these later stages of the transfer window. One among them is Michy Batshuayi’s move to Borussia Dortmund.

The German club has been on the lookout for a striker ever since it became clear that Aubameyang will not be at Westfalenstadion beyond this month. Initially, they demanded Giroud as part of the Aubameyang deal from Arsenal but that did not materialise. The Frenchman is however expected to swap North London for West London instead.
Chelsea’s hunt for a target man has led them to Giroud after a deal for Edin Dzeko fell through. This move will allow Giroud and his family to stay in London. Moreover, given the dearth of strikers at Chelsea, he will definitely get more opportunities under Antonio Conte than he would have gotten at Arsenal. Meanwhile, Batshuayi’s loan move will help him finish the season with a run of games under his belt.
He moved to Chelsea last summer for a hefty sum of €40 million. Big things were expected of the Belgian but he quickly fell out of favour under Conte. Consequently, his progress has stalled considerably over the past six months. He will now be playing for a place in the World Cup under his new boss Peter Stoger.
As things stand, Arsenal is getting Aubameyang from Dortmund who in turn will loan out Batshuayi from Chelsea and this will allow Giroud to move from Arsenal to Chelsea. This merry go round will be beneficial for all the parties involved and will refresh each squad. While the Aubameyang deal is the biggest of the lot, the others hold equal importance.
