Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde wants the fringe star to be sold before the current transfer window closes on Wednesday.

Valverde waved goodbye to Rafinha, Arda Turan, and Javier Mascherano this month after the deals were finalized with Inter Milan, Istanbul Basaksehir, and Hebei China Fortune respectively. The departures were also compensated by the arrival of Philippe Coutinho and Yerry Mina as Valverde looks forward to bolstering of his squad for the future competitions. Valverde is now left with just four days to complete all his business as the transfer window closes on Wednesday.

The latest reports from Spain is now suggesting that Valverde wants to offload one his players before the transfer deadline. According to Don Balon, Valverde wants Gerard Deulofeu to leave. The 23-year-old winger impressed during his time at Milan, which eventually provoked Barcelona to bring the player back to Camp Nou. However, since his return to the club, he has failed to live up to the expectations of the boss.

He had a wonderful time at Milan last season. In total, he made 18 appearances for Milan and was directly involved in 7 goals. He scored 4 goals and provided the goalscorers with 3 assists during his time at Milan. The manager feels that there is no significant role for him to play in the squad, following the arrival of Ousmane Dembele and Philippe Coutinho from Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool respectively.

Barcelona is determined to bring in at least €20 Million for the Spaniard. However, AC Milan and Napoli are reluctant to meet Barcelona’s asking price for Gerard Deulofeu. The Spaniard’s departure would also deprive Ernesto Valverde of one of the members of his Champions League squad from the first half of the current campaign.

I personally feel Deulofeu will take a good decision, by considering a move out of Barcelona. The player’s journey with Barcelona can be a described as that of a rollercoaster. But now it’s time for him to end that rollercoaster journey. The Spaniard should consider moving out of Barcelona and should consider giving a fresh start to his career again.
