Chelsea legend understands Conte’s frustration, as he feels club are lagging behind in the transfer window

Blues’ legend Frank Lampard has stated that he feels that Chelsea are at present lagging behind in the transfer window, which is clearly frustrating manager Antonio Conte and the former England international understands the Italian boss’ frustration.

The west London outfit has been struggling for form this season, after winning the Premier League title last term, with Conte taking over at Stamford Bridge.

The champions of England are being “blown out of the water”, as per their former midfield star, who himself won multiple titles with the Londoners during his time as a player, including the Champions League.

Roman Abramovich took over at West London back in 2003, which saw Chelsea become the first Club from England to benefit from the big-spending capabilities of a billionaire owner, which totally changed the club forever.

Since then, the Londoners have never looked back and have won endless titles, making them one of the biggest clubs in England at the moment.

Champions League success in 2011 was the culmination of Roman Abramovich’s long-term plan

However, with things not going their way prior to the start of the current campaign, the Italian manager tried his best to bring in some high-quality signings.

Despite his best efforts, things did not work out for the club and the manager, who lost quite a few players back then and began the season on the back foot.

Chelsea still has the money to spend, though they have lost their targets to other clubs or have failed to sign some of the players on their wish-list.

Keeping that in mind, Conte has become more and more frustrated with his situation at the Bridge, with Goal recently suggesting that his future with the London based outfit is in doubts once again.

Ross Barkley has been Chelsea’s only signing this month

Lampard spoke in a recent interview and suggested that City and United have blown everyone else away, with the way that they have spent their money, during the transfer seasons.

The winter transfer window has been no different with the Red Devils, adding Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal and making it the move of the season.

Eden Hazard’s future is also in doubts at present and if things do not get resolved quickly, it could mean trouble for the club, with the Belgian international linked with a move to the Bernabeu for quite some time now.

Author’s Take-

If Chelsea does lose some of their top players, they really need to sign reinforcements. Lampard has a point and Conte knows what he wants. He is eager to get the right kind of players who can help him, not just win the league once again, but more. Hopefully, Roman and co. give him all the support that he needs and things work out in their favour.
