Chelsea manager Antonio Conte talked about the previous managers of the club and commented upon his future which is under dark clouds.
Ahead of Chelsea’s FA Cup tie against Rafael Benitez’s Newcastle United, Conte spoke about the Blues’ history of sacking managers.
The Italian manager has often been under the scanner over repeated rows with the higher authorities concerning transfers. Conte mentioned the previous managers at Stamford Bridge and compared their situation to his. He said:
“I saw a bit the history of this club in the past and it was the same also for the other coaches. I don’t see a difference between them and me and other coaches that managed this situation.”
Conte noted the difference between the current season and the previous season, with adding the fact that this season is much more difficult due to the involvement in more competitions. He stated:
“If you remember at the start of the season I said maybe this will be the most difficult season for me”
“I think that I have a great capacity to see very long (into the future). We have to know that we have to face great difficulties. But if you know this you are more ready to face this type of situation.”
Conte says he is happy to work with his players and happy to work for the club.

Conte was able to muster a laugh while stating Chelsea’s knack of sacking managers while asserting that he is relaxed, as he is doing everything he can to improve the club. He said:
“If you look at the stats you can see that in 14 years 10 managers were sacked in this club”
“But, when you are sure about your work and that you are doing everything to improve this club and to work in this way with the players, under this aspect I am very relaxed, calm.I don’t have this type of worry.”
To conclude, the manager was asked about the expectations that are set for the London side. Conte replied:
“It is right to dream and then there is the reality. You have to fight the reality to try sometimes to overcome the reality, like last season, and to try to do something special. But for sure it is not simple, not easy.”
Conte is surely under the scanner with inconsistent performances so far this season. The Italian is finally coming to terms with Premier League football after enjoying a fairytale first season at Stamford Bridge. With Chelsea already shortlisted several candidates as a prospective replacement for the Italian, Conte will have to spring up a miracle in the second half of the season to secure his place.
