Conte lashes out at Premier League managers over recent remarks

Chelsea manager, Antonio Conte was not happy with the remarks of his counterparts Arsene Wenger and Jose Mourinho.

Earlier, the Manchester United Manager took a dig at Conte and Jurgen Klopp by stating that the duo are “clowns” who “over-react” in their allocated technical areas.

The Chelsea manager responded in a due manner by saying, “I think maybe he was talking about himself in the past. Sometimes people can forget what they did in the past.”

This is a reference to the time when Mourinho ran down the Old Trafford touchline during his visit there as FC Porto manager in 2004.

Conte responds to Wenger claims

The Chelsea manager was clearly upset over Wenger’s remarks. The French manager criticized referee Anthony Taylor who awarded the Blues a penalty at the Emirates recently.

Wenger believes that the penalty changed the complexion of the game which ended 2-2. Conte responded to the remarks by stating that:

I think if Arsene watches the game again, he’ll understand that he was very lucky in the game with the refereeing decisions, It’s strange because I don’t like to speak about other coaches or players.

“This is a form of respect that you must have.Sometimes Wenger forgets that in the last few games [vs Arsenal] we finished with 10 men.”

Author’s Take:

The battle between the manager intensifies as we head into the second half of the season. Conte makes some valid points with his remarks on Mourinho and Wenger. The animosity between Conte and Mourinho is not unknown, ever since their altercation at the Red Devils’ visit to Stamford Bridge last year. Conte has a lot on his plate at the moment and has his job at Stamford Bridge on the line.
